Abstract: Described herein is a novel method of strengthening a wellbore wherein the method uses a polyurea silicate composition. In the method of strengthening an oil well, a gas well or a water well, a mixture comprising at least one isocyanate component having at least two isocyanate groups per molecule; at least one alkali metal silicate; and water is pumped through the oil well, the gas well or the water well into the annulus of the well; subsequently, the mixture is allowed to form a polyurea silicate composition; before the polyurea silicate composition sets to thereby give a polyurea matrix comprising domains of silicate.

Abstract: The invention relates to a polymerizable compound of formula (I), where Rf represents a monovalent fluorinated organic radical of 1 to 18 carbon atoms and 35 to 85 wt % of fluorine, R1 represents a moiety from the group consisting of cyclic or acyclic alkylene of 5 to 14 carbon atoms, arylene, diarylenealkane and dialkylene-substituted aryl, B represents —O— or —N(R2)—, R2 represents hydrogen, an aliphatic hydrocarbyl moiety of 1 to 12 carbon atoms or a monovalent fluorinated organic radical of 1 to 18 carbon atoms and 35 to 85 wt % of fluorine, X represents a polymeric polyol having two or more repeating units and after removal of two OH groups, E represents —O— or —N(R3)—, R3 represents a hydrocarbyl moiety of 1 to 12 carbon atoms or a hydrogen atom, Y represents a chemical bond or a divalent moiety of 2 to 20 carbon atoms, and Z represents an organic moiety comprising a polymerizable building-block group. The invention further discloses a process for forming this compound, polymers comprising the polymerizable compound of the invention and the use of said polymers for coating a surface.
