Abstract: Methods and materials for sand control in water injection sites are disclosed. Proppant particles may be coated with some particles coated with a solid epoxy and other proppant particles coated with a solid epoxy curative (such as amine, hydroxyl, carboxyl, anhydride) that would bind the particles through an epoxy reaction. The invention may be advantageous for forming underground structures useful in the extraction of hydrocarbons.

Abstract: A candle includes candle wax and a wick disposed in the wax. The candle wax comprises a triacylglycerol component produced by partial hydrogenation of a triacylglycerol feedstock. The triacylglycerol feedstock has a monounsaturated fatty acid content of at least 22% and a polyunsaturated fatty acid content of not greater than 63%. The partially hydrogenated triacylglycerol component has a polyunsaturated fatty acid content of not greater than 3%.

Abstract: Polymer matrix particles useful for inhibiting scale formation in oil and gas wells are described. The insoluble, porous, crosslinked polymer matrix includes a polymer backbone and ionic functional groups covalently bonded to the backbone, the ionic functional groups being capable of selectively attracting and binding salt scale-forming ions when in contact with a liquid containing such ions.

Abstract: Proppant particles may be coated with some particles coated with a diene and other proppant particles coated with a dienophile that would bind the particles through a Diels-Alder reaction. In some other embodiments, proppant particles may be coated with alternating layers of diene and dienophile that would react through a Diels-Alder reaction. The invention may be advantageous for forming underground structures useful in the extraction of hydrocarbons.
