Systems for nerve and tissue modulation are disclosed. An example system may include an intravascular nerve modulation system including an elongated shaft having a proximal end region and a distal end region. The system may further include one or more ablation electrodes affixed to the distal end region of the elongated shaft. One or more ground pad electrodes may be provided and connected to a processor configured to modulate the impedance of each circuit completed between the ablation electrodes and the ground pads.
Abstract:
A medical device for sympathetic nerve ablation includes a catheter shaft and an expandable member disposed on the catheter shaft. The balloon is configured to be able to shift between an unexpanded configuration and an expanded configuration. The medical device includes an elongate electrode assembly constructed as a flexible circuit and a protective bumper member. The elongate electrode assembly may have an outer edge and may be disposed on an outer surface of the balloon. The protective bumper member may cover at least a portion of the outer edge of the elongate electrode assembly.

The renal nerve modulation device may include an elongate shaft having proximal region and a distal region. An ablation member may be coupled to the distal region. The distal region may have a distal inner diameter. The proximal region may have a proximal inner diameter that is smaller than the distal inner diameter. A ribbon may be disposed within the distal region of the shaft. The ribbon may have a proximal end and a distal end. The proximal end of the ribbon may extend into the proximal region of the shaft. The distal end of the ribbon may be disposed adjacent to or otherwise coupled to the ablation member.
