    摘要: Disclosed is coalescing media for coalescing a mixture of two phases, namely a continuous phase and a dispersed liquid phase. The media includes polymeric base material having a surface with asperities, and the surface is heterogenous with respect to hydrophilicity/hydrophobicity. The media is configured for coalescing a dispersed liquid phase in a continuous phase where a preponderance of the heterogeneous surface is non-wetting with respect to the dispersed liquid phase. The media is configured for capturing droplets of the dispersed liquid phase where a layer of air is trapped at the heterogeneous surface and tips of the asperities extend through the trapped layer and contact the droplets.

    摘要: A fluid filter assembly (20) includes an axially extending tubular housing shell (24) having an integral closed end (26), a distally opposite integral open end (28), and a sidewall (30) extending integrally between the ends. An annular filter cartridge (32) is in the housing shell. An adapter plate (48) has a first set of threads (50) thread mounting the adapter plate to the machine (22) from which fluid is filtered, and a second set of threads (54) engaging the threads (56) of the open end of the housing shell in thread tightened engagement. The housing shell is a singular one-piece member of sufficient stock and thickness at the open end to be internally threaded and to structurally support direct threaded engagement with the adapter plate without an intermediate structural support member. The housing shell sidewall extending integrally between the ends is of sufficient stock and thickness to prevent torsional crimping thereof upon thread tightened engagement, including when the integral closed end of the housing shell is gripped and turned to turn the housing shell at the integral open end into direct threaded engagement with the adapter plate. In addition to simplified reduced part content, easy change of the filter cartridge is also enabled, wherein the adapter plate remains on the machine when the housing shell is removed.

One particular example of a separation assembly is a crankcase filtration assembly used in engine oil filtration and that includes an additive material disposed within the crankcase filtration assembly. The additive material chemically treats condensate material of blow-by fluids received by the crankcase filtration assembly when a condition is present in the condensate material. For example, the crankcase filtration assembly provides a unique structure with a chemically treated component that can reduce an acidic condition in condensate material received by the crankcase filtration assembly, and even more generally may extend engine oil life.

An extended life two-stage fluid filter assembly includes first and second filter elements (80 and 112), wherein the pleats (114, 116) of a main downstream filter element (112) are spaced from each other along a spacing direction (122) transverse to the flow direction (46) and defining a transverse gap (124) therebetween through which fluid flows, and wherein the pleats (92, 94) of an upstream prefilter element (80) are packed against each other without such transverse gap and blocking fluid flow therebetween.
