    摘要: A liquid tight rectangular paperboard container (10) is provided with a separate opening tab (17) secured to the top panel (15) thereof which enables the package to be opened to provide a fully open top. In particular, an elongate plastic window (18c) is formed along the front fold line (15a) connecting the top and front panels (15 and 11) of the package, and has ends (18d, 18e) connected to spaced apart arcuate shaped perforated lines (18a, 18b) extending to the rear corners of the top panel. In the construction of the package, the opening tab (17) is first ultrasonically welded to the outside surface of the package blank, and then the window section (18c) is pressed against and welded to the inside surface of the tab. A slit (40) which is formed in the window enables any air trapped between the window and the tab to escape during the welding operation. The package also includes a unique side sealing flap structure, while the particular paper supply roll from which the package is constructed has a unique structure. Also, a unique method of forming the package is disclosed.

    摘要: A single generally rectangular blank which can be formed into a paperboard package. The four corners of the blank are trihedral. The blank is center folded. The width of a first portion of the blank, measured parallel to the centerfold, is greater than a second portion of the blank. The blank is sealed on the two sides adjacent the centerfold to form an open package, which is then filled. The side opposite the centerfold is then sealed to close the package, forming a parallelepiped container. The seals are fin seals. The fin seal opposite the centerfold of the blank overlaps the two seals adjacent the centerfold. The three fin seals are folded flat against the sides of the package. The package may be provided with an opening through the blank. A tab may be provided to completely cover and seal around the opening in the package. The tab includes a grip portion which, when pulled upwardly, lifts the tab away from around the opening in the package. As the tab is pulled upwardly, an outer laminate layer tears away from an inner paper core of the package in the region of the seal between the tab and the package, uncovering the opening in the package. The tab will remain hingedly connected to the package along a rear tongue portion.

    摘要: A machine for making and filling packets has an intermittently fed sheet material which is recurrently severed into packet strips. These strips are successively pushed downwardly by a battery of filling tubes which shift vertically, bear against the sheet strip, and fold it into a vertical trough-shaped receptacle open at the top. After the filling tube battery has moved downwardly, sets of vertically spaced sealing or clamping jaws operate to effect laterally spaced side seals in an upper strip and conjointly create top seals in the lower or preceding sheet strip. Product is metered to the packet strips. The sealed packets are severed from the strip after the sealing operation. The filled packet has outwardly bowed side walls and the juncture of the bottom wall and the side walls will assume a line, the configuration of which is a function of the size and cross-sectional configuration of the filling tubes, providing a unique advantageous form.

    摘要: A liquid tight rectangular paperboard container is provided with a separate opening tab secured to the top panel thereof which enables the package to be opened to provide a fully open top. In particular, an elongate plastic window is formed along the front fold line connecting the top and front panels of the package, and has ends connected to spaced apart arcuate shaped perforated lines extending to the rear corners of the top panel. The opening tab is adapted to be folded against the front panel and substantially covers and protects the front tear line, while the side tear lines are protected by the top cover.

    摘要: The present invention relates to a unique method and apparatus for packaging a product in individual vacuum-sealed packets constructed of a sheet of flexible material. In the method of the present invention, a sheet of flexible packaging material is formed into a channel-shaped member having spaced apart vertical sidewalls. The facing surfaces of the sidewalls are sealed at horizontally spaced apart, vertical locations to define a plurality of open top packets. A predetermined amount of a flowable product is introduced into each of the open top packets. Next, the upper corner portions of each individual packet are sealed to reduce the size of the opening in the packets. A vacuum tube is introduced into the open top packet and the upper portion of the open top packet is sealed around the vacuum tube. The interior of the packet is then evacuated through the vacuum tube and an initial horizontal top seal is produced below the vacuum tube to initially seal the packet. Finally, the vacuum tube is retracted and a final horizontal top seal is produced above the initial top seal.
