Abstract:
A package for the storage of food or other suitable products includes a tray and, optionally, a lidding film. The tray is thermoformed, molded, or otherwise shaped to provide a recessed portion and flange, the recessed portion defining a product-receiving cavity. The flange includes a frame portion surrounding the cavity and a margin portion disposed alongside the frame portion and, in some embodiments, extending substantially a full width of the tray. The optional lidding film attaches to both the frame and margin portions and typically seals the cavity. The margin portion and a side wall of the recessed portion may include locking features to allow the margin portion to snap close against the side wall. The package may then be made to stand on end with the margin portion acting as a base. The lidding film may include a peelable/sealable film to allow repeated access to the product while sealing the cavity between uses.
Abstract:
The invention proposes to dispense a substance from a container filled with a single portion of a substance. The container comprises a preformed deformable body defining a filling cavity which body has an opening and an integral planar circumferential rim surrounding said opening. The opening is closed by a cover sheet which is sealed to the circumferential rim by a circumferential sealing seam. The circumferential rim has a dispensing part which is covered by the cover sheet. A dispensing passage is formed between the dispensing part and the cover sheet. At the location of the dispensing passage is provided a weakened sealing seam portion, such that upon pressurizing the content of the container, the weakened sealing seam portion breaks and substance flows out of the container through the dispensing passage. The dispensing part is flat and the dispensing passage for the substance is defined by the cover sheet sealed to the flat dispensing part by at least two outwardly directed sealing seams. The outwardly directed sealing seams extend at a distance from one another from the circumferential sealing seam to the edge of the dispensing part.
Abstract:
A pill assembly configured to receive the correct selection of medications in the correct dosages for a particular patient. The pill assembly comprises containers wherein at least one of the containers is configured to receive a plurality of different pills. The containers are adjacent to one another. The pill assembly also comprises a plurality of lids. Each of the lids is configured to seal a corresponding container. The containers have a top surface with a flange that is configured to receive the corresponding lid. Each lid has a surface that is configured to receive a printable indicia with patient specific information. The pill assembly may also comprise a sleeve that is configured to slidably interface with the containers.

Abstract:
The invention proposes to dispense a substance from a container (1) filled with a single portion of a substance. The container comprises a preformed deformable body, preferably made of sheet material, defining a filling cavity which body has an opening (6) and an integral planar circumferential rim (5) surrounding said opening, which opening is closed by a cover sheet (7) which is sealed to the circumferential rim (5) by means of a circumferential sealing seam (10). The container with the substance is opened by making use of the deformability of the cover sheet (7). A support surface supports the cover sheet (7) except at the position of a recess (10b). The recess (10b) is positioned at least over a part of the circumferential sealing seam. Upon compression of the container body the substance is pressurized and the cover sheet (7) bulges out into the recess (10b) such that the sealing seam (10) is broken at the location where the bulge is formed resulting in the container being open.
Abstract:
A method for verifying a multiple prescription order having a plurality of different medications is described. The method comprises receiving a prescription order that includes a first medication that is different from a second medication. Additionally, the prescription order indicates that the first medication and second medication are to be taken at regular intervals. After entering the prescription order into a graphical user interface, the method verifies the entered prescription order by comparing the entered prescription order to the multiple prescription order. Multiple prescription packages are generated that combines the first medication and second medication in the same package that are intended to be taken at the prescribed interval. Each multiple prescription package is then inspected, and a verification process is initiated that confirms that the first medication and second medication are within each multiple prescription package. The multiple prescription packages are then placed into a container that is sealed.
Abstract:
A container is thermoformed from a multilayer sheet, which includes a container body and a flange extending outward from a circumference of an opening of the container body. An end of the first layer extends over an edge of a peeled surface toward a bottom side on an outer end surface of the flange. When a lid is heat-sealed to the flange of the container, even if a seal resin is melted and flowed toward the end surface of the flange, since the edge of the peeled surface is covered with the end of the first layer, the seal resin will not adhere to the edge of the peeled surface.
Abstract:
An easily openable container comprises (a) a multilayer container body which includes an innermost layer and an adjacent layer contacting the innermost layer, a recessed portion and a flange and (b) a lid member melt sealed to the innermost layer of the multilayer container body at the flange, where the innermost layer and the adjacent layer are peelable from each other and having between them a peel strength smaller than the peel strength between the lid member and the innermost layer. The flange has two circular notches made in the innermost layer, and the multilayer container body and the lid member are melt sealed between the two circular notches, with the proviso that a portion of the melt sealed area projects outwardly from the outer circular notch, and a depression is made in the innermost layer at the outermost edge of the projecting portion of the melt sealed area by pressing the innermost layer through the lid member. Opening is performed by the peeling off the innermost layer together with the lid member from the adjacent layer of the multilayer container body between the two circular notch and begins easily by breaking the innermost layer at the depression at the outermost edge of the projecting portion of the melt sealed area.
Abstract:
A reclosable container has a base and has a sidewall defining a substantially cylindrical or frustoconical shaped container portion and defining a pouring spout. The sidewall extends from the base to a container upper rim portion merged integrally with a V shaped pouring spout rim portion and with an upper rim tab which extends about and away from the pouring spout rim and which is separated from an outer edge of the pouring spout rim by a V shaped cut out slit which follows the contour of the pouring spout rim. A lid is welded to the container portion rim, the pouring spout rim and the rim tab for covering the container. A holding portion is integral with the sidewall.
Abstract:
An easy-open package comprises a vessel part forming an upwardly open compartment and having an annular rim surrounding the compartment and a foil part adhered to the rim of the vessel part all around the compartment, unitarily formed with an open tab which projects laterally past the rim, and formed with a tear line extending around the compartment except at the tab and extending to an outer periphery of the foil part to each side of the tab. One of the parts is formed as a laminate including a metal layer, a synthetic-resin layer, and a relatively weak bond securing the synthetic-resin layer to the metal layer. The synthetic-resin layer of the one part is bonded to the other part along an annular strip running around the rim with a relatively strong bond and the one part is formed in the synthetic-resin layer with at least one secondary tear line at the tab.
