    摘要: A brake assembly apparatus is provided for a vehicle braking system. The brake assembly apparatus comprises a vibration damping sleeve for damping vibration between a first braking component and a second braking component. The sleeve includes (i) a first set of spring elements projecting toward a circumferential surface of the first braking component and tuned with a first preload against the circumferential surface of the first braking component, and (ii) a second set of spring elements projecting toward a circumferential surface of the second braking component and tuned with a second preload against the circumferential surface of the second braking component. The first and second sets of spring elements cooperate to damp vibration of certain frequencies between the first and second braking components based upon the first and second preloads.

The bores are configured to receive a shank of the fastener and are disposed about a center axis along which the fastener extends. The washer further includes one or more fingers each having a first end coupled to the body and a second end configured to selectively engage a flat on either a head of the fastener or a nut. The finger is movable between a disengaged position wherein the second end of the finger is configured for disengagement from the flat and an engaged position wherein the second end of the finger is configured for engagement with the flat. The finger is biased towards the engaged position.

    摘要: A method of manufacturing a camshaft for a drum brake includes designing a tubular camshaft and thereafter forming the camshaft as a unitary body through, for example, an additive manufacturing process. The camshaft is designed with a first end portion configured for coupling to a brake actuator, a second end portion defining a cam configured to engage cam followers coupled to first and second brake shoes, rotation of the cam causing the first and second brake shoes to move between positions of engagement and disengagement with an associated braking surface, and an intermediate portion disposed between the first and second end portions. A wall thickness of at least one of the end portions and the intermediate portion is configured to achieve at least one of a predetermined torsional stiffness in the camshaft and vibration damping in the camshaft at a selected frequency.

The unitary body further defines one or more supports extending between the two webs and/or between one of the webs and the brake table. In some embodiments, the supports comprise vibration dampers configured to deflect from an unloaded position to a loaded position in the presence of a load and to return to the unloaded position in the absence of the load.

The dust shield comprises a first semicircular portion lying in a generally flat plane, and a second semicircular portion lying in the same plane as the first portion to form an annular disc. A dividing slit is defined between the first and second portions. The dust shield further comprises a hinge portion interconnecting the first and second portions. The hinge portion has a stress-relief slit that transversely intersects the dividing slit such that mechanical stresses between the first and second portions are distributed and dispersed over a relatively larger surface area when the first and second portions are spread apart along the dividing slit in opposite directions relative to each other to install the dust shield on the drum brake assembly.

The brake spider includes a mounting portion configured for mounting the spider to a vehicle frame and an anchor pin support portion extending from the mounting portion. The mounting portion defines an aperture centered about a first axis and configured to receive a vehicle axle extending therethrough along the first axis. The anchor pin support portion includes a pin receiving section defining a bore centered about a second axis and configured to receive an anchor pin extending therethrough along the second axis. The pin support portion further includes bracket support sections extending axially from opposite sides of the pin receiving section. The bracket support sections face one another and diverge from one another approaching the mounting portion of the spider.
