    摘要: In an embodiment, a network communication entity obtains a location associated with an access terminal that is attempting to participate in a communication service, determines whether the obtained location satisfies a relationship with a defined location region, the defined location region establishing a first level of service restriction for the communication service within the defined location region and establishing at least a second level of service restriction for the communication service outside of the defined location region, and restricts the access terminal in accordance with the first or second level of service restriction for the communication service based on the determination. The network communication entity may correspond to the access terminal, an access network or an application server. If the access terminal detects a current, imminent or future service restriction, the given access terminal can initiate handoff to another service mechanism and/or inform the user of the service restriction.

    摘要: In an embodiment, an access network (AN) receives a request to allocate a given data channel (e.g., a traffic channel (TCH), Quality-of-Service, an Internet Protocol (IP) address, etc.) to a given wireless communication device (e.g., a call originator, a call target, etc.). The AN determines whether the given data channel is available for allocation to the wireless communication device. If the AN determines the given data channel not to be available for allocation to the wireless communication device, the AN determines a priority score to be associated with the received request. The AN initiates one of a plurality of data channel acquisition procedures (e.g., a preemption procedure, a queuing procedure, etc.) if the determined priority score is above at least one priority score threshold, each of the plurality of data channel acquisition procedures configured to obtain the given data channel in order to service the received request.

    摘要: In group wireless telecommunication, such as push-to-talk (PTT) calls, a voice communication is broadcast through Internet protocol data packets to other member devices of the PTT group. At least one communication server receives a single communication stream from a communicating wireless device, such as a PTT call, and creates a group communication to all wireless telecommunication devices of the designated group with the broadcast of Internet protocol data packets containing the voice data of the communication stream to one or more wireless telecommunication devices of the receiving group that can receive and handle the packets. Other wireless network infrastructure can be used to assist the communication server in generation and broadcast of the Internet protocol data packets to the receiving wireless telecommunication devices.

    摘要: A system and method for providing high performance dispatch services for a push-to-talk (PTT) communication over a wireless communication network. When a wireless device is powered up, it registers with a server and then transitions to a paging state instead of an idle state. When the wireless device is ready to transmit PTT communications, it sends a message to the server and transitions to a transmission state when a confirmation is received from the server. Once in the transmission state, the wireless device is ready to transmit the PTT communications to the server.

    摘要: A system and method for signaling and delivering group communication data, such as push-to-talk (PTT) setup data, to a dormant wireless telecommunication device across a control channel on a wireless communication network. Each wireless telecommunication device is able to direct a single group communication stream to a designated target group of other wireless telecommunication devices, and the wireless telecommunication device has a dormant state in which the wireless telecommunication devices bridges a control channel with a communication server and an active state in which the wireless telecommunication device bridges a dedicated communication channel with the communication server. The wireless telecommunication device receives group communication setup data though a control channel for incoming group communications, and such delivery occurring without fully bridging a dedicated communication channel to that wireless telecommunication device.
