Disclosed is a method for extracting a region-of-interest of a user in a multimedia mobile terminal. The method includes: setting a search region in an input picture input to the multimedia mobile terminal on a screen picture-to-screen picture basis, and extracting a group of boundary of a region-of-interest based on a brightness difference between the set search region and an environment around the set search region; determining boundary coordinates of the region-of-interest through learning during a predetermined frame among the extracted group of boundary coordinate candidates; and enlarging the region-of-interest having the determined boundary coordinates, and displaying the enlarged region-of-interest. As a result, a region the user is most interested in or pays more attention to than other regions on a screen is automatically extracted. Accordingly, it is possible for users to view pictures in such an efficient manner as to provide the users with an even better experience and understanding during viewing.

A packet type retransmission system for DMB services includes a DMB device for receiving multimedia data from a content provider, for converting the multimedia data to DMB data for DMB transmission, and for transmitting the DMB data. A broadcasting transfer medium transfers the DMB data transmitted through the DMB device. A DMB-IP converter receives the DMB data transferred through the broadcasting transfer media and converts the DMB data to packet based data. An IP based multimedia transmitting device outputs the packet based multimedia data converted through the DMB-IP converter to user devices.

A motion search method and apparatus for minimizing an off-chip memory access to reduce cycles for predicting a motion vector. A sum of absolute differences (SAD) calculation processing is performed, while an off-chip memory is accessed using Direct Memory Access (DMA). A position of a current macro block is determined if a frame is input and the length of a horizontal search line is set according to adjacent motion vectors and predetermined external parameters. The SADs are calculated by calculating medians of the adjacent motion vectors as a predictive motion vector, setting a vertical direction value of the predictive motion vector as an initial search line, and sequentially searching at least one horizontal search line, and determining a position of a minimum SAD from the at least one horizontal search line. The minimum SAD position is selected as a final motion vector.
