An application engages a teaching mode in a web-based graphical user interface (GUI), wherein a collection of selectable portions of the web-based GUI is accentuated. The application records a sequence of selections made among the collection of selectable portions of the web-based GUI as well as data entered within the GUI, where the sequence of selections represent a repeatable user-defined procedure for interacting with the web-based GUI. The application exports and imports data from the sequence of selections made among the collection of selectable portions of the web-based GUI to facilitate replay of the sequence of selections without requiring repeated entry of said data by a user. The application replays the sequence of selections with the web-based GUI.

Finally, the method can include quashing the click through if the identified link address is not the modified link address. Conversely, the method can include redirecting the click through to the marketed site if the identified link address is the modified link address.

The application replays the sequence of selections within the web-based GUI while displaying a status of the replaying of said sequence of selections that enables a user to differentiate between manual steps that require user intervention and automatic steps that do not require user intervention.

摘要： A task-like user interface is provided for Web-based applications. Preferred embodiments enable users to initiate multiple instances of tasks within a single Web application, where independent state information is retained for each instance. Each user-initiated task also has a prescribed life cycle with a definite start and end. Resources allocated to perform various activities can therefore be released when the activity ends. Optionally, contextual information can be passed to a task upon invocation. Support for persisting a currently-viewable work unit as a user-selectable favorite may optionally be provided.
