    摘要: The invention relates to an ink jet printer nozzle plate containing nozzle holes and having a durable non-wettable layer on at least one surface thereof. The nozzle plate includes a polyimide material and the non-wettable layer contains a derivative of an amine-terminated silane compound, the amine-terminated silane compound derivative being covalently bound to the polyimide material of the nozzle plate. The layer also contains a derivative of a polydialkylsiloxane compound having a number average molecular weight ranging from about 400 to about 150,000 and an end group reactive with the amine-terminated silane compound derivative. The polydialkylsiloxane compound derivative is bound to the amine-terminated silane compound derivative by a condensation reaction to provide the durable non-wettable layer on the surface of the nozzle plate. Because of covalently bonding the silane and polydialkylsiloxane materials to the polyimide, the non-wettable layer remains substantially durable throughout the life of a printhead containing the nozzle plate.

    摘要: The present disclosure relates to chemically processed toner that makes use of aqueous dispersions of release agent and/or pigment and solutions of a polymeric resin binder. The polymer solution may be prepared in an organic solvent wherein the organic solvent has some level of solubility in water. The polymer solution may then be combined with an aqueous dispersion of pigment and/or release agent which dispersions may include an aqueous polyelectrolyte and/or an aqueous dispersion of colloidal particles. This may be followed by agglomerating and forming particles of toner of a desired number and/or volume average particle size and/or degree of circularity.

    摘要: A chemically prepared toner for electrophotographic printers and method therefor using a unique polymeric dispersant. The chemically prepared toner includes agglomerated polymeric dispersant stabilized pigment particles, a fuser release agent, a charge control agent dispersion, and a self-stabilized essentially surfactant free latex binder. The polymeric dispersant includes at least three segments, a hydrophilic polymeric segment, a hydrophobic polymeric segment, and a protective colloid or reactive surfactant segment. The weight average molecular weight range of the dispersant ranges from about 5,000 to about 30,000, and a hydrophobicity ranging from about 10 to about 90 percent by weight. The chemically prepared toner includes agglomerated toner particles have a unimodal particles size distribution with a number average particle size (N) ranging from about 5.0 to about 8.5 microns and a volume average particle size (V) ranging from about 5.0 to about 8.5 microns.

    摘要: A method for making toner particles having reduced toner charge transfer sensitivity when used in electrophotographic printers. The method includes preparing a dispersion of pigment, a fuser release agent, and a polymeric dispersant. The polymeric dispersant has a hydrophilic polymeric segment and at least one segment selected from the group consisting of a protective colloid segment and reactive surfactant segment. The polymeric dispersant also has a weight average molecular weight ranging from about 5,000 to about 30,000 as determined by gel permeation chromatography, and a hydrophobicity ranging from about 10 to about 90 percent by weight. The dispersion is mixed with a latex binder dispersion to provide a toner mixture. The toner mixture is agglomerated while stirring the mixture at an elevated temperature to provide toner particles.
