Abstract:
Systems and methods for operating a linear motor (e.g., for an ESP), where the motor's mover moves in a reciprocating motion within a bore of the stator. Hard stops are located at the ends of the bore. The motor has a first set of sensors in the stator positioned proximate to the bore. When the mover moves in the bore, the sensors produce corresponding output signals, except when the mover is in a position near, but not in contact with a hard stop. While the sensors produce output signals, the motor is driven in a first direction toward the hard stop. When the sensors stop producing the output signals, the mover has reached the first position, and the motor is controlled to reverse the direction of the mover.
Abstract:
A rack of the type for circulating air interiorly for drying multiple pairs of boots and/or gloves, where the articles to be dried are sprayed with a liquid sterilizing agent while on the rack. The blower housing, manifold and hollow members of the rack have no exterior horizontal surfaces to prevent pooling of the sterilizing agent. In addition, drain holes are provided in the blower housing, rack tubes and manifold to prevent interior trapping of sterilizing agent or moisture from condensation. In one version intended for sterilizing with power connected, a conduit in the manifold drains any liquid in the blower housing directly into the rack tubes. Another lower cost version is intended for sterilizing after electrical power has been externally disconnected and has liquid/moisture drain holes in the blower housing. Either version may be wall mounted or arranged as portable free standing single or double sided rack drying systems.

Abstract:
A forced air dryer for gas masks or other face pieces having a drinking tube attached. A housing having a blower is attached to a distribution manifold with a heater therein. Spaced riser tubes each with spaced tubular mask support arms attached thereto are releasably fastened to the manifold for receiving forced air therein. In one version, adapted for wall mounting, the riser tubes extend vertically downward from the manifold; and, in another free standing version, the riser tubes extend vertically upward from the manifold. Each support arm has a wire support frame or “basket” thereon configured to support a gas mask or face piece with attached drinking tube thereon with a nozzle discharging forced air upwardly through the wire frame to the interior of the gas mask. Each riser has a separate air discharge nipple proximate each support arm and configured for threaded engagement with a canteen cap connected to the drinking tube for concurrently forcing air through the drinking tube. The dryer may be shipped disassembled in kit form, for ready reassembly, in situ, by the user.
Abstract:
A portable dryer for in situ drying multiple pairs of relatively small articles of apparel having a blower and heater for forcing air into a pair of attached oppositely directed manifolds, each with discharge ports and adjacent support members for the articles to be dried. One of the manifolds is attached by a quick-release slotted connection for assembly and removal without tools. In preparation for transport, the user removes, inverts and stacks the one manifold on the opposite manifold reducing the volume of bag or enclosure required for one person transport.
Abstract:
A method for improving adhesion between polymeric materials is provided. The method includes treating a surface of a first polymeric material with plasma of oxygen gas and hydrogen-containing gas. The first polymeric material may be a fully cured polymeric material. A second polymeric material may then be deposited on the plasma treated surface of the first polymeric material. The second polymeric material may be an uncured polymeric material. This plasma treatment may be used in improving the adhesion between polymeric components of an inkjet printer. It provides good adhesion between the polymeric components of the inkjet printer even after long exposure to ink.
Abstract:
Circuits and methods of providing power to an electric load are disclosed. The method includes the steps of, for example, generating power via at least first and second parallel power supplies, in response to the first power supply exhibiting an over-voltage, disabling a reverse current threshold on the second power supply, turning off the first power supply when the over-voltage exceeds a threshold value, and continuing to generate power via the second power supply.

Abstract:
A system may comprise a control system that controls a state of a switch network, the control system having first and second thresholds that determine the state of the switch network based on the relative voltages at an input and an output of the switch network. A scaling network is coupled across the input and the output of the switch network and providing a gain scaling signal to a first input of the control system. An offset network is coupled to the output of the switch network and providing an offset signal to a second input of the control system, the first threshold being set independently of the second threshold based on the gain scaling signal and the offset signal.
