A method for increasing selectivity of alkylation to monoalkylation comprising: providing a feedstream consisting essentially of alkylating agent and a stoichiometric excess of benzene, the alkylating agent consisting essentially of a molar blend of propylene and one or more linear butene(s); and, contacting the feedstream with a catalytically effective amount of zeolite beta under alkylation reaction conditions which increase selectivity of the alkylation to monoalkylation compared to predicted selectivity to monoalkylation based on the concentration of the alkylating agent and on the molar blend of propylene and one or more linear butene(s).

The process also provides a method of preparing a bio-based feedstock steam reforming catalyst comprising: providing a support material comprising a transition metal oxide; providing a modifier comprising an alkaline earth element; contacting the support material with the modifier to form a modified support; providing a metal component comprising a Group VIII transition metal; contacting the support material, the modified support or combinations thereof with the metal component to form the steam reforming catalyst; and contacting the modified support, the metal component, the steam reforming catalyst or combinations thereof with a promoter.

Radiation sources include gamma radiation sources such as Co.sup.60 emitters as well as e-beam, ion and other commercially used sources of high energy radiation. The materials so produced are high molecular weight crosslinked polyketone polymers which exhibit enhanced mechanical and tribological properties.

Relatively low molecular weight Olefin/CO copolymers are graft copolymerized with vinyl monomers by the exposure of a mixture of a dispersion of the two to high energy radiation such as .gamma. ray radiation. Styrene is an example of a monomer useful in forming the graft copolymer. The graft copolymers are useful as waterborne glues particularly in the preparation of wood composites.
