During a backflushing cleaning cycle, a backflush deflector at the outlet end of the bypass tube in the venturi creates the directional change by changing axial flow of cleansing fluid through the bypass tube to radial flow at the outlet end of the bypass tube in the venturi and prevents straight-through rectilinear flow of cleansing fluid from the bypass tube to the filter outlet. Jets are provided, jumping the cleansing fluid across a radial gap between the bypass tube and the venturi throat to a region outside of the venturi and within the hollow interior of the full-flow filter element, to disperse and backflush the full-flow filter element.
