    摘要: An electrically operated throttle valve assembly 110, 210 having a throttle shaft 18, 218 with a portion extending exteriorly of the throttle body 12. Rotor 166, 266 is mounted on the extending portion of shaft 18, 218. A housing 80 concentrically surrounds the rotor 166, 266 and includes a rear wall 86, 286 to which stator 134, 234 is attached. The stator 134, 234 having a plurality of circumferentially spaced pole segments each with a coil is mounted to the rear wall 86, 286 and is concentrically disposed within the rotor 166, 266. The hollow cylindrical rotor 166, 266 with plural magnets 72, 74, 272, 274 disposed about the inner periphery has a radial web flange 168, 268 which is drivingly attached to one end of the extending portion of shaft 18, 218 with the rotor 166, 266 nested over the stator pole segments. Reducing the size or even eliminating the mounting shaft or bolt 92, and preferably replacing it with a welded, wound and overmolded stack of laminations provides more winding area for electrically conductive coils to provide more magnetic flux.

    摘要: A housing (A) which is connected with an internal combustion engine to be vibrated therewith. A diaphragm (B) is mounted in an interior chamber of the housing to undergo vibration therewith. The diaphragm is constructed to have a natural resonant frequency which substantially matches the knock frequency of the engine model for which the knock sensor is designed. The diaphragm is mounted to the housing by a central portion (20) such that an edge portion (24) undergoes maximum resonant displacement. To facilitate the passage of air from one side of the diaphragm to the other during near resonant displacement, a plurality of apertures (26) are provided through the diaphragm edge portion. In this manner, viscous drag is reduced which increases the magnitude of the resonant displacement and decreases the bandwidth or range of frequencies over which the diaphragm undergoes significant displacement. A piezoelectric element (30) is connected with the diaphragm to provide an electrical output signal which varies with the diaphragm displacement.

    摘要: A transducer housing for mounting a port in a combustion chamber has a metal diaphragm exposed to the combustion gasses. The pressure of the combustion gasses deflects the diaphragm which locally deflects a simply supported beam. The beam is formed of refractory material having epitaxially grown crystalline piezoresistors formed on one surface of the beam and connected in a bridge circuit. Noble metal foil leads connect to the piezoresistors to form the bridge and provide attachment pads. The pads are noble metal welded to other noble metal foil pads provided on a ceramic substrate to form a sensor subassembly for mounting adjacent the diaphragm to form a transducer.

    摘要: A low-leakage air valve assembly 10 for an air intake manifold 16 includes a butterfly valve 12 constructed for mounting on a rotatable shaft 14. The butterfly valve 12 includes a first 32 and a second wing 34 with first elastic sealing means 36 mounted about the periphery of the first wing 32, and second elastic sealing means 40 mounted about the periphery of the second wing 34. The first elastic sealing means 32 includes a projecting lip 38 for sealingly contacting the wall of the valve manifold 16. The second elastic sealing means 40 includes a beam portion 42 for sealing contact with shoulder 28 of manifold 16. Third elastic sealing means 44 is axially positioned at each side of the passage 30 in the butterfly valve 12 and radially provided around a portion thereof. The first area 54 defined by the first sealing surface which is the first wing 32 and first elastic sealing means 36 is larger than the second area 56 defined by the second wing 34 and second elastic sealing means 40. This provides a net torque which increases the sealing force of the valve.

    摘要: A vibration transducer for sensing engine knock. On embodiment for resonance upon vibration at frequencies in the range of 5-7 KHz has a centrally stanchion-supported overhanging metal disc with an annular stiffening portion formed with in transverse section with contracurvature and generally rectangular configuration for minimizing ringing. Piezoelectric material is bonded to the disc surface inwardly of the stiffening portion for providing an electrical signal during resonant disc flexure. A second embodiment for resonance upon vibration at frequencies in the range of 9-15 KHz has a centrally stanchion-supported overhanging metal disc with an annular stiffening portion for minimizing ringing formed in transverse section with contracurvature comprising a generally semicircular convolution. Piezoelectric material is bonded to the disc surface and bridges the stiffening portion and provides an electrical signal during resonant disc flexure.

    摘要: A heater water valve has a servo actuator with a subfractional horsepower, low torque, high RPM motor operating on a 12 volt DC supply. A speed reducer provides rotation of an output sector gear. One travel limit position of the sector gear is provided by a resilient pad which is compressed by the sector gear to develop full motor stall torque in five degrees (5 degrees) of rotation of the sector gear, which rotates a shaft for opening and closing the heater water valve. The pad is preferably closed cell silicone foam.
