A first memory output frequency in a first mode in which one side of an original is read and an image is formed on one side of a recording medium is lower than a second memory output frequency in a second mode in which both sides of an original are read and an image is formed both sides of a recording medium.

摘要： An image reading apparatus, including: a first distance detector configured to measure a first distance of the original conveyed after a sensor is changed from a first state detecting the original to a second state not detecting the original; a second distance detector configured to measure a second distance of the original conveyed after the second state is changed to the first state; and a controller configured to control a conveyor so that the conveyor starts a conveyance of a succeeding original when the second distance reaches a conveyance permission distance before the first distance reaches a hole detection distance and the conveyor stops the succeeding original when the second state is changed to the first state before the first distance reaches the hole detection distance, and thereafter starts the conveyance of the succeeding original when the first distance reaches the hole detection distance.

When the mechanism causes the relative movement from the first position to the second position, the controller operates the mechanism for a predetermined duration to substantially eliminate the slackness of the web resulting from the relative movement.

摘要： An image reading apparatus reads an original image of an original, which is conveyed along a conveyance path, using a scanner unit and a CCD sensor unit. A separation sensor, a lead sensor, and a sheet discharge sensor, which are provided to the conveyance path, detect occurrence of a jam. A restarting method for reading processing of the original after the occurrence of the jam includes a first restarting method of re-placing all of the originals, which have been fed, on an original tray and a second restarting method of re-placing only an unread original on the original tray, and is set by a user. In a case where the second restarting method is set, the restarting method is determined from any one of the first restarting method and the second restarting method based on a discharged length of the original having been discharged to a sheet discharge tray.

摘要： An image reading apparatus includes a first unit, a second unit that is pivotable against the first unit, and a controller. The first unit includes a platen, a member, and a movable first reader. The second unit includes an original tray, a conveyance unit that conveys an original from the original tray, a static second reader. The controller determines an opening/closing state of the second unit against the first unit based on read data obtained when the second reader reads the member. The first reader reads the first side of an original conveyed by the conveyance unit and the second reader reads the second side of the original when the original placed on the original tray is read. The first reader reads the first side while moving under the original when the original placed on the platen is read.

摘要： A control method of an image forming apparatus for eliminating waste of sheet when a jam of an original occurs at the time of reading while shortening FCOT (First Copy Output Time) is provided. In the image forming apparatus, when double-sided image reading of the original fed by an ADF and the like is performed, for a first original, before the image reading of the first original is completed, a read image of the first original is started to print (printer output). A second original is not discharged but it is temporarily stopped. Then, if the image reading of the second original is failed, after the second original is replaced and after the image reading is completed, the read image of the second original is started to print (printer output).
