A drawing device includes: an insertion portion into which a finger or a toe including a nail which is a drawing target surface is inserted, the insertion portion including an opening configured to expose an entire tip portion of the finger or toe including a region having the nail of the finger or toe; and a holding portion in the insertion portion configured to suppress movement of the finger or toe. The holding portion includes: a first pressing portion opposing a side surface on one side in a width direction of the inserted tip portion of the finger or toe and configured to press the side surface on the one side; and a second pressing portion opposing a side surface on another side in the width direction of the tip portion of the finger or toe and configured to press the side surface on the another side.

A drawing apparatus to perform drawing on a drawing target surface which is a surface of a fingernail or toenail having a curved shape includes a drawing tool holder which holds a drawing tool in such a way that the drawing tool is movable toward and away from the drawing target surface; and a drawing tool pressing mechanism which presses the drawing tool with a pressing force toward the drawing target surface when the drawing tool performs drawing. The drawing tool pressing mechanism changes the pressing force in accordance with a change in height of a position to be touched by the drawing tool on the drawing target surface according to the curved shape due to a change in position where the drawing tool touches the drawing target surface, to reduce a change in pressure on the drawing target surface from the drawing tool.

When the drive unit moves the drawing tool while drawing, the drive unit is controlled to perform drawing direction limiting processing in which the drawing tool is allowed to move from a first to a second point of the surface of the nail which is lower than the first point and the drawing tool is prohibited from moving from the second to the first point in a first area of the nail surface set on one side of the nail center line, and in a second area of the nail surface set on the other side of the center line.

The illuminating device is disposed at a certain position relative to the imaging device and illuminates the nail when the imaging device photographs the nail. The printing section performs the printing on the nail. The movement mechanism moves the imaging device, the illuminating device and the printing section together with one another.
