    Abstract: A thermally expandable sheet includes: a first thermally expansive layer that is formed on one side of a base and contains a first thermally expandable material and a first binder, the first thermally expansive layer having a first ratio of the first thermally expandable material with respect to the first binder; and a second thermally expansive layer that is formed on the first thermally expansive layer and contains a second thermally expandable material and a second binder, the second thermally expansive layer having a second ratio of the second thermally expandable material with respect to the second binder, wherein the second ratio is lower than the first ratio.

    Abstract: An apparatus for forming a three-dimensional image includes: a print function unit that forms a first print image on one surface and a second print image on a region of another surface of a thermally expandable sheet with a photothermal conversion material; and an image processing unit that sets a density of the photothermal conversion material in the second print image based on a density of the photothermal conversion material in the first print image. The second print image is a mirror image of the first print image, and the region of the other surface corresponds to the first print image of the one surface. A three-dimensional image of the first print image is formed by selectively expanding a thermally expandable layer with thermal energy according to the density of the photothermal conversion material in the second print image when the sheet is irradiated with light from the other surface.

    Abstract: A thermally expandable sheet includes a base, a thermally expansive layer, and a color adjustment layer. The thermally expansive layer is provided on a first side of the base and includes a thermally expandable material that distends in accordance with an amount of heat absorbed, the heat being generated from a thermal conversion layer that includes a thermal conversion material that converts electromagnetic waves to heat. The color adjustment layer is provided on at least one of the thermally expansive layer and a second side of the base and includes a color adjusting agent. When the thermal conversion layer is provided on the color adjustment layer, the color adjustment layer reduces a visual difference in color between a first region where the thermal conversion layer is provided and a second region where the thermal conversion layer is not provided.
