    摘要: A cylindrical wash flow fuel filter element is mounted in a housing so as to form a flow recirculation path, a portion of which is parallel to the surface of the filter. Fluid enters an inlet and passes through a jet inducer nozzle which accelerates the fluid inducing a flow in the recirculation path. Contaminants are washed away from the surface of the filter and held in suspension by the wash flow in the recirculation path. One of two outlets receives filtered fluid which passes through the filter element. The other outlet communicates with the recirculation path via a pressure responsive shutoff valve. An auxiliary check valve limits the pressure drop across the jet inducer nozzle for high inlet flow conditions. When the pressure responsive shutoff valve is closed, filtered flow equal to that entering the jet inducer emerges radially from the wash flow filter and the contaminant is, for a limited time, stored in the recirculating wash flow path. When the pressure responsive shutoff valve is opened the wash flow passes through the other outlet thereby discharging the stored suspended contaminants.

    摘要: A fuel control system, adapted to handle contaminated fuel, has a primary fuel supply line incorporating a pump and a wash flow filter downstream of the pump. A bypass line containing a bypass valve communicates with the primary line at respective positions upstream of the pump and downstream of the filter. A secondary fuel supply line communicates with the filter to receive a flow of filtered fuel. A main fuel supply line includes a window-type metering valve which receives fuel from either the primary or secondary line via a transfer valve. At low flows the metering valve receives fuel from the secondary line so that it will not become clogged by contaminants in the fuel and at high flows contaminated fuel is delivered to the metering valve through the primary line.

    摘要: A fuel control system has an electric motor-driven, positive displacement metering pump located in a fuel tank for supplying and metering fuel to an engine. The speed of the motor is determined by an electronic scheduling device which senses various engine parameters and generates a signal indicative of a scheduled fuel flow. A motor control circuit is responsive to the signal from the scheduling device to control the speed of the motor in accordance with the signal''s magnitude. A vapor core pump is in series flow relationship with the positive displacement pump to raise the pressure of the metered fuel to a level required for engine delivery. A throttling type differential pressure regulator is disposed intermediately of the pumps to maintain a constant pressure rise across the positive displacement pump so that fuel flow is a linear function of motor speed, and also to throttle flow to the vapor core pump. Alternatively, the metering pump may be driven by means of a controllable clutch assembly connected to an engine driven shaft.
