    摘要: Fluid supplied from a contaminant tank holding the fluid to be filtered, and delivered at a filtered fluid outlet, is supplied to a filter housing which defines a chamber therein subdivided by a perforate divider plate over which the filter paper is guided, and on which it is supported. The filter paper subdivides the chamber in an upper, or contaminant chamber, and a lower, or filtrate chamber. The lower or filtrate chamber is connected to a vacuum and suction pump. The upper portion of the housing can be raised off the filtrate paper and its support to permit movement of the filtrate paper. The contaminated fluid to be filtered is guided from the contaminant tank to the upper filter chamber, without any intermediate pumping apparatus or the like, all pumping being done by the suction and vacuum pump connected to the filtrate chamber, so that pumping equipment connected to the installation need not handle contaminated materials which may contain obstructing, abrasive or cutting particles, such as metal shavings, husks of plant material used in oil extraction processes, or the like, or toxic or biologically contaminated materials.

    摘要: A stationary chamber having a perforated peripheral wall contains an axial rotor having rubber-like radial carrier blades which, as the rotor rotates, are indented at their outer edges by guide means having helical turns extending along said peripheral wall. A passage allows ambient gas to enter the chamber so that the rotor's action on a liquid-solids mixture entering a first part of the chamber maintains a free liquid surface therein. The carrier blades and rotor coact with the helical turns to carry a liquid-bearing cake of the solids through the free liquid surface and thence through a second part of the chamber to a solids outlet, during draining of liquid from the cake through the perforated peripheral wall.

    摘要: A bi-directional filter drier is provided for reverse flow applications as encountered, for example, in heat pump systems. The filter drier includes a shell defining a chamber, the shell having an inlet and an outlet, preferably axially aligned with one another, which communicate with the chamber. A suitable filter means is positioned in the chamber and a fluid flow path within the chamber is designed so that fluid flow through the filter always occurs in a single direction, regardless of the direction of flow through the inlet and outlet. Flow within the chamber and thus the filter is controlled by a simply constructed valve combination at the inlet and the outlet.

    摘要: A fuel control system, adapted to handle contaminated fuel, has a primary fuel supply line incorporating a pump and a wash flow filter downstream of the pump. A bypass line containing a bypass valve communicates with the primary line at respective positions upstream of the pump and downstream of the filter. A secondary fuel supply line communicates with the filter to receive a flow of filtered fuel. A main fuel supply line includes a window-type metering valve which receives fuel from either the primary or secondary line via a transfer valve. At low flows the metering valve receives fuel from the secondary line so that it will not become clogged by contaminants in the fuel and at high flows contaminated fuel is delivered to the metering valve through the primary line.

    摘要: A duplex cam-operated pressure-balanced sleeve valve is provided for controlling fluid flow into either one or both of two fluid lines, such as to either one or both of two filter elements, comprising, in combination;(1) a valve housing;(2) first and second valve chambers in the housing in alignment with a cam chamber therebetween;(3) first, second, and third fluid flow ports in the housing communicating with the first valve chamber, and fourth, fifth, and sixth fluid flow ports in the housing communicating with the second valve chamber;(4) a first reciprocable sleeve valve member in the first valve chamber, axially movable within the first valve chamber between positions controlling flow from the first fluid port to one or both of the second and third fluid flow ports;(5) a second reciprocable sleeve valve member, preferably coaxial with the first sleeve valve member, in the second valve chamber axially movable within the second valve chamber with the first sleeve valve member between positions controlling flow from one or both of the fourth and fifth fluid flow ports to the sixth fluid flow port;(6) cam-following valve-actuating means in the cam chamber operatively connected to both the first and second sleeve valve members, for reciprocably moving both valve members together between their flow-controlling positions;(7) a cam in the cam chamber movable between at least three selected positions and operatively connected with the cam-following valve-actuating means in a manner such that:(a) with the cam in a first position, the first sleeve valve member is in a position communicating one of the second and third fluid flow ports with the first fluid flow port and the second sleeve valve member is in a position communicating one of the fourth and fifth fluid flow ports with the sixth fluid flow port;(b) with the cam in a second position, the first sleeve valve member is in a position communicating the other of the second and third fluid flow ports with the first fluid flow port and the second sleeve valve member is in a position communicating the other of the fourth and fifth fluid flow ports with the sixth fluid flow port;(c) with the cam in a third position, both the first and second sleeve valve members are in positions communicating the first with the second and third fluid flow ports and the fourth with the fifth and sixth fluid flow ports;(8) means for moving the cam between each of the selected positions, thereby shifting the valves in unison;(9) the first and second sleeve valve members each having an interior pressure-receiving surface exposed at all times to fluid pressure in the first and second valve chambers, respectively, and in the first and sixth fluid flow ports, respectively, and an exterior pressure-receiving surface exposed to fluid pressure in the second and third, and fourth and fifth fluid flow ports, respectively, fluid flow through which is controlled by the respective sleeve valves, so that there is a zero component of force arising from any pressure differential across the valves tending either to move the sleeve valve members or to resist cam-operated movement of the sleeve valve members between their selected positions;(10) the cam-following valve actuating means having opposed pressure-receiving surfaces, of which one is exposed to fluid pressure in the first valve chamber, and the other is exposed to fluid pressure in the second valve chamber;(11) the opposed pressure-receiving surfaces of the cam-following valve-actuating means being of such small relative surface areas that any fluid pressure differential between first and second valve chambers on the opposed pressure-receiving surfaces thereof offers negligible resistance to cam-operated reciprocation of the sleeve valve members, so that such fluid pressure differential does not interfere with movement of the first and second sleeve valve members between their selected positions.

    摘要: A modular liquid-treatment system for treating water having a liquid-treating tank with a liquid-treatment cartridge therein for treating untreated water and a similar storage tank which receives the treated water and stores it for supply on demand. The detection of variation of the water level of the storage tank below a predetermined level is used to automatically control supply of untreated water to the liquid-treating tank. A modular liquid-flow control unit is removably mounted on the two alike tanks. The unit has two similar symmetrically mounted couplings each removably mounted on a corresponding one of the tanks. A supply valve on the unit controls supply of water from an untreated water supply main and supplies the untreated water to a flow-control device which maintains the flow substantially constant in the presence of pressure variations in the supply main. This device precludes water-hammering in the system and keeps the flow within the pressure tolerances of the system so that the tanks and many elements can be made of relatively light plastic. A pair of electromagnetic valves which are closed when de-energized are disposed on the modular coupling on the liquid-treating tank. The electromagnetic valves are energized to open them by application of an electrical signal applied when the level of treated water is detected to be below the predetermined level. Outflow of treated water from the storage tank is automatically controlled by detecting when the treated water level exceeds a predetermined level. The storage tank is vented to allow entry of filtered air and venting of air to the atmosphere as the water level therein varies and avoids contact with the atmosphere.
