Abstract:
A new process for preparing metal complexes of unsubstituted or 3,5-substituted salicyclic acid and of 2-valent metals or 2valent metal oxides of 4-valent metals comprising reacting a corresponding salicyclic acid with a soluble metal salt and an alkali alcoholate.

Abstract:
A Polycyclic metal complexe of the formula WHEREIN A1 denotes a 2-3-membered lower alkylene radical, a 1,2lower-cycloalkylene, a 1,2-phenylene or 1,8-naphthylene radical, A2 denotes a 2-3-membered lower alkylene radical, a 1,2-lowercycloalkylene or 1,8-naphthylene radical, Me denotes a divalent metal atom, R1 and R3 denote hydrogen atoms or lower alkyl radicals, R2 denotes a hydrogen or halogen atom or a lower alkyl, aryl, nitro, nitrile or arylazo group, or the radicals R2 and R3 form a fused five to six- membered alicyclic ring, and in the case that R1 and R3 denote lower alkyl radicals R2 must not be hydrogen, are useful for coloring polymers in red-brown shades.
Abstract:
WHEREIN A1 and A2 are carbocyclic or heterocyclic aromatic radicals, R1 and R3 are hydrogen atoms, aliphatic hydrocarbon radicals or aryl radicals, and R2 is a hydrogen or halogen atom or an alkyl, aryl, nitro, nitrile or arylazo group, chargerised in that a carbocyclic or heterocyclic aromatic 1,2-diamine is reacted with a 1,3-dicarbonyl compound in the presence of a divalent metal ion, in an organic solvent. The products obtained according to this process a valuable pigments for coloring plastics.
Process for the manufacture of polycyclic metal complexes of the formulae
WHEREIN X denotes an aromatic radical on which the imino groups are in the o-position, Y denotes a hydroxyl, alkoxy, cycloalkoxy, aralkoxy or aryloxy, amino, alkylamino or arylamino group and Z denotes a H or halogen atom or an alkoxy, nitro or nitrile group, the radical X having to be free of nitro groups if Y denotes an arylamino group and Z denotes a H atom, as well as metal complexes of these bis-azomethines are useful for coloring plastics and lacquers in yellow to red shades of good fastness properties.
