Abstract:
Bis-azomethine pigments of the formula ##SPC1##Wherein X denotes an aromatic radical on which the imino groups are in the o-position, Y denotes a hydroxyl, alkoxy, cycloalkoxy, aralkoxy or aryloxy, amino, alkylamino or arylamino group and Z denotes a H or halogen atom or an alkoxy, nitro or nitrile group, the radical X having to be free of nitro groups if Y denotes an arylamino group and Z denotes a H atom, as well as metal complexes of these bis-azomethines are useful for coloring plastics and lacquers in yellow to red shades of good fastness properties.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a self-assembled olefin polymerization catalyst comprising a transition metal compound according to formula (I) LqMmXn wherein M is a transition metal selected from the group consisting of Group 3-11 of the periodic table; X is independently selected from the group consisting of H, halogen, CN, optionally substituted N(Ra)2, OH, optionally substituted C1-C20 alkyl, optionally substituted C1-C20 alkoxy, wherein Ra is independently selected from the group consisting of optionally substituted C1-C20 alkyl, optionally substituted C6-C20 aryl and halogen; q is an integer of at least 2; m is an integer of at least 2; n is an integer making (I) electrically neutral; L is independently a ligand which has at least two linked coordination units, wherein each coordination unit binds to a different transition metal. The present invention also relates to a process for the polymerization of olefins using the transition metal compound of the invention and to the polyolefins obtained from this polymerization process. Finally, the invention also relates to new ligands L present in the transition metal compound and to methods of making the ligand L.
Abstract:
Process for the manufacture of bis-azomethine metal complex colorants of the formula ##STR1## wherein A denotes an isocyclic or heterocyclic aromatic radical, X denotes an isocyclic or heterocyclic aromatic radical to which the N-atoms are bonded in the o-position or peri-position, or an alkylene radical containing 2-8 C atoms, and M denotes a divalent transition metal ion, a zinc ion or cadmium ion, characterized in that an o-hydroxyaldimine compound of the formula ##STR2## wherein A has the abovementioned meaning and R denotes an alkyl, cycloalkyl or aryl radical, is reacted with a diamine of the formulaNH.sub.2 --X--NH.sub.2wherein X has the abovementioned meaning, in the molar ratio of 2:1, in the presence of a compound which donates a divalent transition metal cation, zinc ion or cadmium ion.
Abstract:
Fluorescent chromophores nicknamed BOPHY are provided. The chromophores may be readily synthesized in two steps from readily available reagents via the coupling of a pyrrole aldehyde or ketone with hydrazine, followed by reaction with BF3. The resultant symmetric and dimeric tetracycle is comprised of two BF2 units in six-member chelate rings, appended by pyrrole units on the periphery. The quantum yield of fluorescence for the unmodified compound and the tetramethyl variant are near unity, with values 95 and 92% respectively in CH2Cl2.
Abstract:
Electrowetting apparatus including a compound comprising a plurality of colorant moieties and a linker. The plurality of colorant moieties includes a first colorant moiety having a first net dipole and a second colorant moiety having a second net dipole, wherein the plurality of colorant moieties are linked by and disposed around the linker so that the first net dipole and the second net dipole at least partially cancel each other.
