Abstract: Methods for fabricating a nanowire composite, and a resulting article that includes the nanowire composite, are all adaptable to roll-to-roll processing by using a flexible substrate including a group IV nanowire growth surface, and locating and forming a group IV nanowire material layer upon the group IV nanowire growth surface. Under particular conditions of processing, group IV nanowire material layer nanowires may be located and formed perpendicular to a plane of the flexible substrate. Exemplary roll-to-roll processing apparatus are also considered.
