Abstract: A device for coupling to a fluid connector of an IV administration set to resist contamination of the fluid connector and IV administration set and permit priming of the IV administration set. The device including a cover body having a cavity for receiving the fluid connector, a priming passage for priming fluid from the IV administration set through the fluid connector, and a coupling tab extending from the cover body, the coupling tab permitting the cover body to be coupled to a length of an IV line or other portion of the IV administration set to resist contamination and permit priming of the IV administration set.

Abstract: Flow controllers for intravenous (IV) tubing are provided. A flow controller may include a first structural member comprising a first outer surface and a first inner surface disposed at an angle to the first outer surface, a second structural member comprising a second outer surface parallel to the first outer surface and a second continuous inner surface parallel to the first inner surface, and a third structural member disposed on one of the first or second structural member and having a friction-reducing surface for at least a portion of a cavity disposed between the first and second structural members. The first structural member is linearly slidable along a length of the IV tubing disposed in the cavity to compress a portion of the IV tubing to control flow of a medical fluid through the IV tubing. Other flow controllers and IV sets that include a flow controller are also provided.

Abstract: Flow controllers for intravenous (IV) tubing are provided. A flow controller may include first and second structural members defining a cavity therebetween for a portion of the tubing, wherein the first structural member is linearly slidable along a length of the tubing to compress at least part of the portion of the tubing to control flow of a medical fluid through the tubing. A flow controller may include a first ramped wedge structure, a second ramped wedge structure configured to slide over the first ramped wedge structure to compress a portion of the IV tubing disposed between the first ramped wedge structure and the second ramped wedge structure, a yoke having a linear slot, a wheel having a pin that is radially separated form a center of the wheel and is slidably disposed in the linear slot, and a transfer structure coupled to the yoke and the first ramped wedge structure. IV sets that include a flow controller are also provided.

Abstract: An exemplary vial adapter may include a moveable member, an elongated member with a first passage, a second passage coupled to an expandable first reservoir, and a third passage coupled to an expandable second reservoir. In a first orientation of an exemplary vial adapter, a fluid may be directed through the first passage into the first reservoir or the second reservoir. In a second orientation of an exemplary vial adapter, a fluid may be drawn through the first passage and a fluid drawn through an air passage into the second passage. In a second orientation of an exemplary vial adapter, a fluid may be directed through the first passage and through the third passage into the second reservoir. In a first orientation of an exemplary vial adapter, a moveable member may be activated to direct a fluid from the second reservoir through the third passage.

Abstract: A medical connector can include a body having a fluid path with an inlet port, an outlet port, a luer portion, and a post extending through a fluid path. An arm having a latch member is coupled to the body to engage a ridge or thread on an exterior surface of a reciprocal connector. The arm may also include an extension. When the connector is in an open position, the latch member restricts retraction of the reciprocal connector from the outlet port. A seal is coupled to the body and includes a flap extending across the outlet port or a bellows to compress along an axis. In a closed position, the post restricts flow through the luer portion. In an open position, the post permits flow through the luer portion.

Abstract: A roller clamp assembly for adjusting the fluid flow rate in a connector tube of an infusion set is provided. The roller clamp assembly includes a housing to receive the connector tube, a plate slideably engaged with the housing and configured to rapidly compress the connector tube to provide a coarse fluid flow adjustment, and a roller wheel moveable engaged with the housing and configured to provide a gradual fluid flow adjustment. The plate may be a slide plate received by grooves in an exterior wall of the housing and that moves orthogonally to the connector tube, or the plate may be a shim plate that moves along an interior wall of the housing in parallel to the connector tube. Infusion sets and methods of adjusting fluid flow rates are also provided.
