摘要： Competition between subscriber stations attempting to access reverse channels in response to Temporary Equipment Identifier (TEI) messages is limited by requiring the subscriber stations to wait for a predetermined amount of time. The time delay is selected on the basis of a random number and a factor based upon the number of TEI messages broadcast. The method for determining response opportunities for subscriber stations also includes a back-off phase at the first stage. The time delays to the defer phase is based upon a random period of time and a predetermined maximum based upon the time needed for the microslots containing a TEI message.

摘要： Energy expenditure is reduced in a wireless subscriber station operating in a Cellular Digital Packet Data (CDPD) system by deleting the operation of decoding the Forward Error Correction (FEC) blocks. The decoding of the FEC blocks can be deleted by virtue of using opening and closing Temporary Equipment Identifier (TEI) messages having a minimum hamming distance from all the other TEI messages. Base Error Rate (BER) is measured to determine when the necessity of decoding an FEC block exists. By limiting this operation, battery life for wireless subscriber stations is prolonged.

摘要： Managing a log-full condition of a transaction log in a transaction processing system, where the transaction log has a plurality of log records each associated with a particular transaction. When a log-full condition is detected, the active transaction having the oldest log entry of all active transactions is identified and logging for all transactions except for the identified transaction is temporarily suspended. A dynamic transaction backout of the identified transaction is initiated, with the writing of a backout record for the identified transaction to the log being delayed. Confirmation that the backout has completed is awaited before trimming the log. Then the delayed backout record for the identified transaction is written to the log, and normal logging is resumed.

摘要： Engine control is provided for an engine having a crankshaft and at least one camshaft with variable valve timing in a rotation transmitting train between the crankshaft and the camshaft. A first value indicative of a cam angle at a home position at a first time is compared to a second value indicative of a cam angle at the home position at a second, earlier, time. Where a deviation in the compared values is detected that does not exceed a threshold value, the first value is stored for use in a subsequent comparison. Where a deviation in the compared values is detected that does exceed a threshold value, a failure condition is detected and the MIL light is illuminated. In this case, the value stored for comparison is not updated.

摘要： A method and transaction processing system for managing transaction processing tasks are provided. The transaction processing system comprises a transaction log, a log management policy, a log manager and a dispatcher. The method comprises maintaining a transaction log of recoverable changes made by transaction processing tasks and storing a log management policy including at least one log threshold. Usage of the log by transaction processing tasks is then monitored to determine when a log threshold is reached. When a log threshold is reached the active task having the oldest log entry of all active tasks is identified and its dispatching priority is increased. This increases the likelihood that the identified task will be dispatched, and should mean that the task will more quickly reach normal completion.
