    摘要: The present invention discloses a method for identifying defective ion exchange membranes installed in monopolar and/or bipolar electrolyzers for chlor-alkali production. The method of the present invention comprises reducing the electric load of the electrolyzer down to 2 to 10% of the normal load and under these reduced load conditions, a measurement of the single electric current load absorbed by each elementary cell in a monopolar electrolyzer is effected as well as the measurement of the single electric voltage of the elementary cell in the case of bipolar electrolyzers. The method further comprises calculating the deviations of the single current or voltages with respect to average values. All membranes which present values comprised between a determined threshold value are considered as suitable for operation.

    摘要: It is described a bipolar plate consisting of a single wall and a perimetrical sealing frame obtained by folding and provided with a planar abutment surface for the frame-to-wall welding. The wall is further provided with projections on one face thereof preferably obtained by moulding, and with supports on the other face consisting of sheet strips housed in the recesses formed by the concave part of the projections. The projections substantially extend along the entire length of the bipolar plate. The projections and supports are connected to electrodes or current distributors. The projections, the supports, the single wall and the perimetrical frame are made of the same metal or alloy. The electrode or current distributor supported by the projections, the same projections and the supports are welded together by a single pass of arc-welding or preferably laser-welding. The electrode or current distributor connected to the support and the support themselves are mutually welded by a subsequent pass of arc-welding or preferably laser-welding. The welding between wall and perimetrical frame on the abutment surface of the frame is carried out by diode-laser technique, allowing to obtain a robust connection but without a complete melting of the sheet, thereby eliminating the risk of process fluid leakage to the external environment.

    摘要: The invention describes an anodic structure for electrolysis cell provided with a separator, in particular for a diaphragm chlor-alkali electrolysis cell, consisting of at least one movable surface suited to be put in contact with the separator. The movable surface comprises a component of higher thickness in contact with a porous layer of lower thickness, for instance a thin sheet provided with openings, and is characterised by the fact that a catalytic coating is applied only to the porous layer of lower thickness. The component of higher thickness has a substantially planar development and includes elements capable of promoting the local recirculation of electrolyte.
