摘要: Disclosed are devices and methods for automated emergency arterial cannulation. The device comprises a hand-held automated emergency arterial sheath placement device having a body with a handle and an actuator, and an arterial sheath placement head at the distal end of the handle body configured for placement against the patient's skin. The arterial sheath placement head includes an arterial sheath insertion device configured to advance an arterial needle, guide wire, and arterial sheath into a patient's artery upon sequential operation of the actuator. The arterial sheath placement head also includes a non-invasive artery locator configured to locate an artery into which the arterial sheath is intended to be placed. The arterial sheath placement head also preferably includes a Doppler gel and antiseptic needle, a local anesthetic needle, and a scalpel, all of which are likewise configured to advance from the upper body portion upon sequential operation of the actuator.

摘要: A long life double layer capacitor and method of making the same including a case and a first terminal with an electrically insulating hermitic seal interposed between the first terminal and the case. A first current collector foil is electrically coupled to an interior portion of the first terminal and a first electrode comprising carbon which is juxtaposed against the first current collector foil. A porous separator is then juxtaposed against the first electrode comprising carbon and separating the first electrode from a second electrode comprising carbon. A second current collector foil is juxtaposed against a side of the second electrode and is electrically coupled to the second terminal. And an electrolyte solution saturates the first and second electrodes comprising carbon and is substantially contained by the case and the electrically insulating hermitic seal such that an influx of impurities into the electrolyte solution is substantially inhibited by the case and the electrically insulating hermetic seal.

摘要: A vacuum receiver for a pneumatic conveyor for conveying, e.g., plastic pellets, having a receiving vessel with a material inlet, a material outlet and a conveying gas outlet. A first valve member is provided for opening and closing the conveying gas outlet, and a second valve member is provided for opening and closing the material outlet. Both valve members are connected to a common valve shaft and actuated by a single actuator mounted on a vessel lid. The vacuum receiver of the invention has the advantage of affording positive control and sealing of the material discharge valve while at the same time being economical to manufacture and easily cleaned.

摘要: In one embodiment, an energy storage device having a first electrode supported by a first collector sheet; a second electrode supported by a second collector sheet; and a dielectric separator therebetween, all spirally wound together. A container houses this spiral winding, with the first collector sheet having an end in contact with the base and the second collector sheet having an end oriented towards an opening opposite to the base. A collector plate is interposed between the second collector sheet and the opening and is restrained in posibion by a crimp in the container. A lid is positioned in the opening and has one side in electrical contact with the collector plate an an opposite side oriented outwardly of the container. The lid is restrained in position by rolling the one or more container walls over the lid.

摘要: An ultracapacitor design minimizes the internal pressure of the cell package by using gas getters, either alone or in combination with a resealable vent in the package. Reducing pressure extends the life of the ultracapacitor. The primary gas types generated within a particular ultracapacitor are measured under multiple possible application conditions. Such conditions may include variables of temperature, application voltage, electrolyte type, length of use, and cycles of use. The primary gas components may be determined and suitable gas getters for different conditions may be formulated. The gas getters may be packed within the ultracapacitor packages, formulated as a negative electrode, doped into the negative current collector, or layered with the negative current collector.
