摘要： A new approach to objective quality assessment of DCT-coded video sequences, with or without a reference is proposed. The system is comprised of a proprietary segmentation algorithm, a feature extraction process and a nonlinear feed-forward-type neural network for feature analysis. The methods mimic function of the human visual system (HVS): A neural network training algorithm is used for determining the optimal network weights and biases for both system modes of operation. The proposed method allows for assessment of DCT-coded video sequences without the original source being available (pseudo-reference mode). The pseudo-reference mode is also comprised of a proprietary DCT-coded video (MPEG) noise reducer (MNR), co-pending patent application no. 60/592,143.

The receiver includes an input portion, a processor, a user interface, a control module, and a network interface. The input portion is configured to receive a signal transmitted by a transmitter and to convert the signal to an audio signal. The user interface is configured to receive an input command and to convey the input command to the processor. The processor executes a control module for processing the input command and generating a query in accordance with the input command. The network interface is configured for facilitating communication between the receiver and the transmitter via the network and the query is transmitted from the receiver to the transmitter via the network. The system includes a digital radio broadcast transmitter, a receiver in communication with the digital radio broadcast transmitter, and a network in communication with the digital radio broadcast transmitter and the receiver. The receiver is configured to establish a two-way communication path with the digital radio broadcast transmitter via the network. The method includes steps for requesting information, formulating a query, transmitting the query, and receiving a response to the query.

摘要： A system for a caller to control a distinctive ring for a telephone call includes a service switching point and a service control point. The service switching point is operable to receive a feature code and a called directory number, and to issue a query in response to receiving the feature code. The service control point is operable to receive the query and issue a response to the service switching point. The response includes a distinctive ring parameter. Upon receiving the response from the service control point, the service switching point processes the call so that the distinctive ring parameter causes a distinctive ring signal to be applied to a called telephone line associated with the called directory number.

When the called party telephone number corresponds to a voice mail platform telephone number, instructions to route the telephone call to the voice mail platform telephone number are communicated to the switch. When the called party telephone number does not correspond to a voice mail platform telephone number, instructions to play a pre-recorded no voice mailbox message are communicated to the switch.
