    摘要: A multi-stage verification system including a first and second identification device to verify the identity of the user and to determine if the user is under duress. When a user approaches an entrance to a building, a first identifier is detected by the first identification device, the identifier is compared to a pre-stored identifier. If there is a match, the user inputs at least one biometric input into the second identification device. The biometric input is compares with pre-stored information in two different databases, a biometric template database and a duress indicator database. If there is a match with the duress indicator database, a silent alarm signal is transmitted to a central monitoring station and the security system is disarmed. If there is a match with the biometric template database, the security system is controlled in the intended manner.

    摘要: In a first aspect, the present invention is a method, apparatus, and system for detecting a change in position of a door or a window in an alarm system with a singular housing having a magnetometer for monitoring the magnetic field of the earth, and a microprocessor for detecting a change in the position of the singular housing with respect to the magnetic field of the earth. The microprocessor generates an alarm signal upon detecting the change, and causes the alarm signal to be transmitted, by wireless transmission, to a remote receiving station. The device may also be used to determine if an object that it is affixed to has been moved, such as for a theft alarm for an object such as a painting. In a second aspect of the invention, a gravitational sensor is used to monitor the gravitational field of the earth and determine if an associated object or person has been moved with respect to the gravitational field, thus providing motion detection and signaling an alarm.

    摘要: An alarm system receiver that is capable of receiving signals transmitted from wireless intrusion detectors at more than one frequency and automatically switching from receiving at one frequency to receiving at a different frequency based on the detection of an interference signal. The alarm system receiver senses a first signal, filters the sensed first signal at a first frequency, demodulates the filtered first signal at the first frequency, and determines if a first interference signal is present in the demodulated first signal for a predetermined time. If the first interference signal is not present in the demodulated first signal, it processes the demodulated first signal as an alarm system signal. If the first interference signal is present in the demodulated signal, the alarm system receiver senses a second signal, filters the sensed second signal at a second frequency, demodulates the filtered second signal at the second frequency, and processes the demodulated second signal as an alarm signal. The alarm system receiver consists of an antenna, more than one filter, more than one local oscillator for providing oscillator signals at the predetermined frequencies, a demodulator for inputting one of the oscillator signals and a corresponding one of the filtered signals to provide a demodulated signal, and an interference detection circuit for inputting the demodulated signal, determining if an interference signal is present in the demodulated signal, and providing an interference detection signal.

    摘要: A system and method for securing a structure, such as a residence or other building, against intrusion, while reducing generation of false alarms when an occupant of the structure inadvertently trips a contact detector by opening an entry point (door, window, etc.) is provided. The contact detector is coupled with a motion detector that is directed to monitor motion within the structure at a location proximate to the entry point being monitored by the contact detector. Generally, when the contact detector detects that the entry point is being opened, a fault is issued to a control panel, which in turn generates an alarm. However, if motion is detected within the structure and proximate to the entry point prior to the contact detector registering an opening of the entry point, no fault is generated.

    摘要: A method and system for selecting frequency channels for a concurrent dual transceiver system are provided. In one aspect, a single hop table for at least two transceivers is used. The single hop table tracks information associated with a plurality of frequency channels that the transceivers can use. An available frequency channel is randomly selected using the single hop table and a transceiver is allowed to communicate via the selected frequency channel for allowed time duration. If communication has not completed for the current communication request, another frequency channel that is available is selected randomly and used. Multiple transceivers may communicate concurrently using this frequency channel selection and hopping method.

    摘要: A method and a device for detecting the breakage of glass. A glass breakage detector that uses an acoustic transducer, an analog-to-digital converter, and a processing means which uses software algorithms to determine if a signal received by the acoustic transducer is a result of glass breaking. The glass breakage detector also uses amplifiers which have a greater gain response for higher frequency components in the received signal. The glass breakage detector is also able to correct the offset error generated by the amplifiers. The processing means or digital signal processor (DSP) uses a feature extraction software algorithm that extracts characteristics of the received sound using a plurality of filters centered at different frequencies and a rules analysis software algorithm to compare the extracted features to features from glass breakage and false alarms. The DSP is also capable of transmitting the extracted features to an external computing device for further analysis. The DSP may use different software routines which may be selected by a user to process the signal from the acoustic transducer. The software algorithms used by the DSP may be modified or customized for optimally detecting a glass breakage event.
