The pedal body is assembled to the axial rod and having an upper portion and a bottom portion, and a first locking member and a second locking member. The first locking member and the second locking member are both located between the upper portion and the bottom portion. The two fastening assemblies are assembled to the first locking member and the second locking member respectively. Under this arrangement, each fastening assembly is assembled to the pedal body directly rather than be assembled to a further pedal as the prior art, so that the pedal for a bicycle of the present invention is lighter than the conventional pedal.

The LVNW areas are coupled to the common, subjacent NBL through a common P+ buried layer (PBL). The method for forming the substrate usable in a semiconductor device includes forming the NBL in a designated low voltage area of a negatively biased P-type semiconductor substrate, forming the PBL in a section of the NBL area by implanting P-type impurity ions such as indium into the PBL, and growing a P-type epitaxial layer over the PBL using conditions that cause the P-type impurity ions to diffuse into the P-type epitaxial layer such that the PBL extends into the NBL. Low-voltage P-well areas are also formed in the P-type epitaxial layer and contact the PBL.

A clipless pedal is disclosed herein which includes a mounting support fixed to a shoe sole and a pedal body which is rotatably mountable to a conventional pedal shaft for retaining the mounting support. The pedal body has a pair of rear jaw members which revertably engage the pedal body. The pedal body, mounting support and rear jaw members all have surfaces shaped in such a manner to ensure the mounting support is rotatable and can push the rear jaw members to allow a lateral disengagement of the mounting support from the pedal body. The rear jaw members are each coupled to the pedal body by a screw member which passes through the jaw member into a respective slot in a V-shaped groove formed in the pedal body. A spring member circumvents the screw member for revertable force against the jaw. The slots are preferably of different lengths so that one jaw member can move a greater distance than the other whereby sufficient rotation for lateral disengagement is more readily attained when rotation is of the cyclist's heel in the outward direction rather than the inward direction.
