Abstract: Communication system includes first unit; and second unit(s) having processing unit(s), downstream signal path(s), and upstream signal path(s). First unit communicates downstream digital transport signal (including digital representation of original downstream RF signal received at first unit) to second unit(s). Second unit uses processing unit and downstream signal path to generate downstream RF signal (for radiation from antenna) from downstream digital transport signal; and communicates upstream digital transport signal (generated from upstream RF signal received at second unit(s) using processing unit(s) and upstream signal path(s)) to first unit. Upstream digital transport signal includes digital representation of received upstream RF signal. Feedback path digitizes downstream RF signal(s) to provide digital representation(s) of downstream RF signal radiated from antenna to processing unit(s). Second unit pre-distorts input signal to downstream signal path for non-linearities in downstream signal path using digital representation of downstream RF signal radiated from antenna as received from feedback path.

Abstract: A host unit (for use within a DAS having a plurality of remote units communicatively coupled to the host unit) includes a plurality of base transceiver stations and a switch. Each base transceiver station is configured to operate on a RF channel. Each base transceiver station is configure to provide a downstream baseband digital signal to the switch and to receive an upstream baseband digital signal from the switch. Each downstream and upstream baseband digital signal is a digital representation of the RF channel at baseband of the respective base transceiver station. The switch is configured to route each downstream baseband digital signal to a respective subset of the remote units as one or more downstream serial data streams and to route each upstream baseband digital signal from one or more upstream serial data streams to a respective subset of the base transceiver stations.

Abstract: One embodiment is directed to a distributed antenna system comprising a host unit and at least one remote antenna unit that is communicatively coupled to the host unit. The host unit is configured to communicate a downstream transport signal from the host unit to the remote antenna unit. The remote antenna unit to which the downstream transport signal is communicated uses the downstream transport signal to generate a downstream radio frequency signal for radiation from an antenna associated with the remote antenna unit. The remote antenna unit is configured to communicate an upstream transport signal from the remote antenna unit to the host unit, wherein the upstream transport signal is generated from a received upstream radio frequency signal received at the remote antenna unit. The remote antenna unit is configured to perform self-interference suppression processing in an upstream signal path using, as an input thereto, a feedback signal derived from the downstream radio frequency signal radiated from the antenna. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Abstract: A distributed antenna system includes a host unit communicatively coupled to a first service provider interface which receives a first signal from the first service provider interface; and a first remote antenna unit communicatively coupled to the host unit, the first remote antenna unit having a first antenna. A base station to which the distributed antenna system is communicatively coupled is configured with a subscriber access timing window having a minimum allowed delay and a maximum allowed delay. The distributed antenna system is configured so that a first total delay between the host unit and the first remote antenna unit is equal to or greater than the minimum allowed delay. The first antenna of the first remote antenna unit is configured to communicate the first signal to a first subscriber unit.
