    Abstract: In one embodiment, an over-the-air millimeter wave repeater for a communications network comprises: a donor unit including a first plurality of modular electronic components and an access point including a second plurality of modular electronic components. The donor unit communicates downlink mmWave spectrum wireless signals received from a base station to the access point and radiates uplink mmWave spectrum wireless signals received from the access point to the base station. The access point radiates the downlink mmWave spectrum wireless signals received from the donor unit into a coverage area, receives the uplink mmWave spectrum wireless signals received from the coverage area, and communicates the uplink mmWave spectrum wireless signals to the donor unit. The first and second plurality of modular electronic components includes at least one of a modular antenna component, a modular signal conditioning component, a modular signal interface component, and a modular controller.

    Abstract: A method is provided. The method, comprises: power amplifying, with at least two parallel power amplifiers, at least two pre-distorted signals each corresponding to a unique transmit band, wherein each power amplifier operates in a unique transmit band; and pre-distorting, with a single pre-distortion system, at least two signals in different transmit bands, where the pre-distortion of each of the at least two signals is based upon a portion of a corresponding power amplified, pre-distorted signal, and where the pre-distortion diminishes certain IMD products in the corresponding power amplified, pre-distorted signal.

    Abstract: One embodiment is directed to a distributed antenna system (DAS) for use with one or more base stations. The DAS comprises a plurality of remote antenna units, one or more donor units, and one or more transport units. The DAS is configured to communicatively couple each donor unit to at least one of the transport units and to communicatively couple each transport unit to at least one of the donor units. The DAS is configured so that all active downlink digital processing for producing the downlink transport signals transmitted from the transport units to the remote antenna units is performed by the donor units and the transport units. The DAS is configured so that all active uplink digital processing of the uplink transport signals received by the transport units from the remote antenna units is performed by the donor units and the transport units.

    Abstract: One embodiment is directed to a system that comprises a non-DPD RF transceiver circuit that does not include digital pre-distortion (DPD) functionality and a DPD RF transceiver integrated circuit that includes DPD functionality. A first analog RF transmit signal output by the non-DPD RF transceiver circuit is received by a receive signal path of the DPD RF transceiver integrated circuit so that receive baseband data generated by the receive signal path is indicative of the first analog RF transmit signal. The receive baseband data generated by the DPD RF transceiver integrated circuit is received by a transmit signal path of the DPD RF transceiver integrated circuit. A second analog RF transmit signal output by the transmit signal path is a digitally pre-distorted version of the first analog RF transmit signal for amplification by the power amplifier.

    Abstract: One embodiment is directed to a master unit for a distributed antenna system (DAS). The master unit comprises one or more donor cards and one or more transport cards, and at least one passive backplane. Each passive backplane comprises a plurality of backplane connectors. Each backplane connector is configured to connect a respective donor card or transport card to the passive backplane. Each backplane connector is connected to each of the other connectors via one or more respective passive bi-directional backplane channels. The master unit is configured so that all active processing of streams of digital samples transported via the DAS is performed by the donor cards and transport cards and not the passive backplane.

    Abstract: In one embodiment, a RF signal repeater switchable between SISO and MIMO comprises: a controller; a first transmitter path switchably coupled to first donor and coverage antennas; a second transmitter path switchably coupled to second donor and coverage antennas; a first receiver path switchably coupled to the first donor and coverage antennas; a second receiver path switchably coupled to the second donor and coverage antennas. The controller configures the repeater for a MIMO TDD operating mode by: configuring the first transmitter path and the second receiver path to repeat at least a first MIMO channel of UE uplink RF signals and at least a first MIMO channel of base station downlink RF signals; and configuring the second transmitter path and the first receiver path to repeat at least a second MIMO channel of UE uplink RF signals and at least a second MIMO channel of base station downlink RF signals.
