Abstract: Conveyor belts having a reinforcement layer, a carry cover layer above the reinforcement layer, and a pulley cover layer disposed beneath the reinforcement layer, where the carry cover layer includes least one hydrogenated nitrile butadiene rubber (HNBR) material. The HNBR material(s) may have a percentage of hydrogenation of from about 90% to about 96%, from about 92% to about 95%, or even about 94%. The carry cover layer may be from about 4 mm to about 6 mm thick, or even from about 4 mm to about 5 mm thick. In some cases, the reinforcement layer includes a rubber matrix, which may be formed of a nitrile rubber (NBR), or mixture of nitrile NBR and natural rubber blended in a NBR:NR weight ratio of from 3:1 to 9:1. In some aspects, the reinforcement layer includes a plurality of reinforcement plies embedded in the rubber matrix.

Abstract: Heavy duty conveyor belts (1) having excellent resistance to high temperatures. These conveyor belts (1) can be repeatedly exposed to temperatures of greater than 200° C. or even 250° C. without compromising the strength or reliability of the belt while providing a greatly extended service life. The conveyor belts (1) may also be manufactured in a commercially viable and cost effective manner. The conveyor belts (1) generally include a reinforcement layer (3), a carry cover layer (2) disposed above the reinforcement layer (3), a pulley cover layer (4) disposed beneath the reinforcement layer (3), and the carry cover layer (2) is comprised of a fluoroelastomer. In some aspects, the conveyor belts (1) have a carry cover layer (2) which includes an outer surface layer (6) containing a fluoroelastomer and an inner layer (7) based upon an EPM elastomer or an EPDM elastomer.

Abstract: A conveyor belt includes a cut and gouge resistant cover layer defining a load carrying surface, a pulley layer disposed parallel to the cover layer, and a carcass comprising one or more reinforcement layers, where the carcass is disposed between the cover layer and the pulley layer. The cover layer is formed by curing an admixture including a rubber component, a sulfur curative, and an additive including oxidized high density polyethylene, maleated high density polyethylene, and/or non-functionalized high density polyethylene. The rubber component includes styrene-butadiene rubber and natural rubber. The cut and gouge resistant cover layer has a cut resistance and gouge resistance value of 1.00 grams or less, after the admixture is cured, and the cut and gouge resistant cover layer has an abrasion resistance of value of 110 or less after the admixture is cured.

Abstract: Rubber blends of SBR and EPDM having improved dynamic ozone resistance, heat resistance, and flex fatigue resistance can be made by co-curing such rubber blends with a sulfur donor/accelerator and a peroxide curing agent. In some aspects, these blends are void of free sulfur. These cured rubber formulations can advantageously be used in a wide variety of industrial rubber products, such as in conveyor belts. The disclosure also reveals conveyor belts which have a combination of good dynamic ozone resistance, heat resistance, and flex fatigue resistance. The conveyor belt include a carry cover layer, a pulley cover layer, and a reinforcement layer which is situated between the carry cover layer and the pulley cover layer, and the carry cover layer and/or the pulley cover layer contain cured rubber formulations according to the disclosure.

Abstract: A conveyor belt includes a cover layer defining a load carrying surface, a pulley engaging layer disposed parallel to the cover layer, and a carcass containing a reinforcement layer, where the carcass disposed between the cover layer and the pulley engaging layer. The cover layer is formed by curing an admixture containing at least a cross-linkable functionalized polyethylene and polyethylene polyolefin. According to the disclosure, the cured admixture is effectively maintained within the cover layer during use of the conveyor belt. In some cases, the load carrying surface maintains a wet clay cleanability value of greater than 3, or even a wet clay cleanability value of greater than 4.4. The cross-linkable functionalized polyethylene may be a cross-linkable oxidized polyethylene. In some aspects, the cross-linkable functionalized polyethylene does not form a polyethylene film upon the load carrying surface.
