摘要: A surgical access assembly includes a cannula including an elongated shaft and a retention anchor movably positionable along the elongated shaft. The retention anchor includes an annular body and a fixation body. The annular body includes a proximally-facing surface, a distally-facing surface, an inner side surface defining an opening therethrough, and an outer side surface. The fixation body includes a disc secured to the distally-facing surface of the annular body and wings extending radially outwardly from the disc beyond the outer side surface of the annular body. The disc defines an opening therethrough and the elongated shaft extends through the openings in the annular body and the fixation body.

摘要: A packaging clip includes a first portion detachably securing a cannula assembly thereto, a second portion detachably securing a syringe thereto, and a third portion detachably securing an obturator thereto. The first portion includes an arcuate portion and a plurality of fingers. The arcuate portion secures a sleeve portion of a fluid port of the cannula assembly thereto such that the sleeve portion is disposed orthogonal to a longitudinal axis defined by the packaging clip. The plurality of fingers includes a first finger extending from a first lateral side of the packaging clip and second and third fingers extending from a second lateral side of the packaging clip. The plurality of fingers secures the lateral portion of the fluid port such that the lateral portion extends along the longitudinal axis of the packaging clip. The first portion of the packaging clip is formed by straight-pull molding.

摘要: A surgical access device includes a cannula body and a fixation mechanism. The cannula body includes a housing, and an elongated portion extending distally from the housing and defining a longitudinal axis. The fixation mechanism includes a flange, a fixation sleeve, and a proximal sleeve. The flange is rotatable about the longitudinal axis. The fixation sleeve extends distally from the flange and radially surrounds a portion of the elongated portion of the cannula body. The proximal sleeve extends distally from the flange and radially surrounds a proximal portion of the fixation sleeve. Rotation of the flange causes a radially-expandable portion of the fixation sleeve to move between a first position defining a first gap between the radially-expandable portion and the elongated portion, and a second position defining a second, greater, gap between the radially-expandable portion and the elongated portion.

摘要: A surgical access device sterilizes tissue at a surgical site and/or the air at the surgical site. The surgical access device may include a cannula including an elongated shaft having a fluid delivery channel defined therein, a fluid delivery port coupled to the cannula and in fluid communication with the fluid delivery channel, and a porous sleeve disposed around the elongated shaft and in fluid communication with the fluid delivery channel. The fluid delivery channel provides a pathway for fluid flow (e.g., an anti-infective agent) from the fluid delivery port into the porous sleeve. The surgical access device may include a cannula including an elongated shaft having an anti-infective agent disposed therein. The surgical access device may include an instrument housing secured to a cannula, and a light source (e.g., an air sanitizing light source) disposed within a cavity of the instrument housing.

摘要: A surgical access assembly includes a surgical access device having a cannula tube, an expandable balloon positioned in a distal region of the cannula tube, and an inflation assembly positioned in a proximal region of the cannula tube. The inflation assembly has a port and a check valve. The port is in fluid communication with the expandable balloon and the check valve is transitionable between rest and actuated configurations. A syringe includes a barrel with a chamber and a plunger slidably disposed in the chamber. An extension of the barrel is configured for releasably engaging the check valve. The plunger also includes a release feature that is engageable with the check valve to transition the check valve from the rest configuration to the actuated configuration.

摘要: A retention mechanism for a surgical access assembly is provided. The retention mechanism includes a planar base having first and second extensions each with a free end, a first locking member disposed on the free end of the first extension, and a second locking member disposed on the free end of the second extension. The first locking member includes a U-shaped body having a first set of opposed, inwardly facing teeth. The second locking member includes a U-shaped body having a first set of opposed, outwardly facing teeth configured engage the first set of opposed, inwardly facing teeth when the retention mechanism is in a locked condition. The first set of opposed, inwardly facing teeth and the first set of opposed, outwardly facing teeth are configured to be spaced apart from each other when the retention mechanism is in an unlocked condition.
