Abstract: A tissue-removing catheter includes a tissue-removing element operatively connected to a drive shaft for rotation of the tissue-removing element about an axis of rotation in a cutting direction. A tissue-removing head of the tissue-removing element defines an annular cutting blade. In some embodiments, angularly spaced cutting teeth form the cutting blade. Inner shearing members extend radially inward from the cutting blade. As the tissue-removing element rotates in the cutting direction and advances axially through a body lumen, the annular cutting edge separates the tissue from the body lumen wall. Leading surfaces of the inner shearing members shear the separated tissue radially inwardly. In some embodiments, the tissue-removing element is an integrally formed, one-piece body made by removing material from a blank to form the cutting blade and inner shearing members.

Abstract: Medical devices that include a tubular member with a plurality of braided filaments, each filament crossing another of the filaments at a respective crossing point forming sidewall and a plurality of pores in the sidewall that are sized to inhibit flow of blood through the sidewall into an aneurysm to a degree sufficient to lead to thrombosis and healing of the aneurysm when the tubular member is positioned in a blood vessel and adjacent to the aneurysm, the pores have an average pore size that is less than or equal to about 500 microns when the tubular member is in an expanded state, the filaments possessing antithrombogenic surfaces to increase antithrombogenicity of the medical device with pores substantially free of webs formed by antithrombogenic material, such that fewer than 5% of the crossing points have webs formed by antithrombogenic material thereby permitting the pores to be substantially free of webs.

Abstract: In some examples, an embolization device includes multiple sections with three-dimensional non-helical structures when deployed at a vascular site. The multiple sections include a first section and one or more second sections that are smaller than the first section. The first section may have a deployed structure configured to anchor the device at a vascular site (e.g., a blood vessel) of a patient while each of the one or more second sections may be formed from loops that configured to pack and obstruct the vascular site. In some cases, the embolization device also includes a third section having a deployed configuration with multiple helical windings or loops is configured to anchor the embolization device at the vascular site.

Abstract: A generally spherical vascular remodeling device is permanently positionable at a junction of afferent and efferent vessels of a bifurcation having an aneurysm. After positioning the device at the junction to substantially conform the device to the shape of the junction, the device acts as a scaffolding to inhibit herniation of objects out of the aneurysm and the device permits perfusion to the efferent vessels. Positioning the device may include deployment and mechanical or electrolytic release from a catheter. Embolic material may be inserted in the aneurysm before or after positioning the device. The device may have a first end, a second end substantially opposite to the first end, and a plurality of filaments extending between and coupled at the first end and the second end. Such devices may be football shaped, pumpkin shaped, or twisted. The device may include a plurality of loops forming a generally spherical shape.

Abstract: A catheter includes an elongate catheter body configured for insertion into a body lumen of a subject. A cutter is located generally at a distal end of the catheter body for rotation generally about a longitudinal axis of the cutter. An eccentric opening in a distal end portion of the cutter defines an angled cutting edge for cutting material from a wall of the body lumen. A center of the opening is offset from the longitudinal axis of the cutter. A cavity extends from the opening through the cutter from the distal end portion to a proximal end portion to allow material cut by the cutter to pass through the cutter into an interior passage of the catheter body for removal from the body lumen.

Abstract: Coating methods and related devices are provided. Such devices can include stents. For example, the device can comprise a sidewall and a plurality of pores in the sidewall that are sized to inhibit flow of blood through the sidewall into an aneurysm to a degree sufficient to lead to thrombosis and healing of the aneurysm when the tubular member is positioned in a blood vessel and adjacent to the aneurysm.
