Abstract: A rotary actuator is used in a shift-by-wire system for a vehicle. The actuator includes a motor, a controller, a housing, and a bus bar. The controller controls the motor. The housing holds a stator of the motor and the controller. The bus bar includes a terminal and a holder. The terminal electrically connects a coil of the stator to a control board of the controller. The holder is molded with a part of the terminal. The terminal includes a board-side arm that extends from the holder and a connecting pin that protrudes from the board-side arm toward the control board and that is connected to the control board. The board-side arm includes a stress releasing member that extends along an imaginary plane in parallel with the control board. The stress releasing member includes at least one curved portion at which the stress releasing member is curved or bent.

Abstract: A rotary actuator used in a shift-by-wire system of a vehicle includes: a motor; an output shaft arranged parallel to a rotation shaft of the motor; and a deceleration mechanism that decelerates rotation of the motor and transmits it to the output shaft. The deceleration mechanism includes a drive gear provided over a rotation axis of the rotation shaft and a driven gear provided over a rotation axis of the output shaft to mesh with the drive gear. The driven gear is a separate member from the output shaft and is loosely fitted to the output shaft.

Abstract: A rotary actuator is used in a shift-by-wire system for a vehicle. A speed reducer includes a ring gear and a sun gear and reduces a rotational speed of the motor. An output shaft outputs rotation of the motor at a reduced rotational speed by the speed reducer. A regulating pin is disposed in a fixing member and allows the sun gear to revolve around a rotational axis of the motor and to rotate about an eccentric axis. The regulating pin is a separate member from the fixing member. The regulating pin has a strength equal to or greater than a maximum torque reaction force received from the sun gear. A first difference in hardness between an engaging portion and the sun gear is set to be less than a second difference in hardness between the fixing member and the sun gear.
