Abstract: In a rotating electric machine, an armature winding includes segmented conductors that include a coil side portion, housed in slots of the armature, and a coil end portion protruding from an armature core on both sides in an axial direction. The coil side portions are housed in the slots so as to form 2N+1 layers in a radial direction. The coil end portion connects two coil side portions respectively housed in the slots that are a predetermined pitch apart in a circumferential direction. The coil end portion includes a first coil end portion connecting the coil side portions of differing layers in the radial direction and a second coil portion connecting the coil side portions of the same layer. On both ends in the axial direction, any of the plurality of coil side portions that are housed in the slots is connected to the second coil end portion.

Abstract: A starter for an engine is provided which includes an electromagnetic brake device and a pinion thrust mechanism. The electromagnetic brake device holds a planetary carrier from rotating. The pinion thrust mechanism converts rotational motion of an internal gear into linear motion of a pinion when the rotation of the planetary carrier is locked. The pinion thrust mechanism includes a cylindrical cam cylinder, a starter housing, a thrust collar rotatable relative to the pinion, and an engaging pin. The cam cylinder is joined to the internal gear and has a circumferential extending cam groove. The starter housing has a straight groove traversing the cam groove. The engaging pin engages both the cam groove and the straight groove and is moved linearly with rotation of the cam cylinder. This enables the linear movement of the pinion regardless of a helix angle of the spline mounted on the output shaft.

Abstract: A vehicular device includes a bearing, an annular detection target, a planar receiving coil extending in a direction intersecting an axial direction of the bearing and provided at a position facing the detection target in the axial direction in a state of not contacting the detection target, and an excitation coil to which an AC excitation voltage is supplied. The detection target is provided to rotate with the rotation of the wheel of the vehicle. When an excitation voltage is supplied to the excitation coil, a voltage is induced in the receiving coil. The vehicular device includes a parameter calculation section for calculating a rotational speed of the wheel based the output voltage signal from the receiving coil.
