Abstract: In a surroundings monitoring device for a vehicle to which a towed vehicle is attachable, a turn information acquisition unit is configured to, when a subject vehicle is turning with the towed vehicle attached to a rear of the subject vehicle, acquire turn information related to the subject vehicle and the towed vehicle. A zone setting unit is configured to set warning zones to left and right, behind the subject vehicle, and extend, based on the turn information acquired, the warning zones further rearward when the towed vehicle is attached to the rear of the subject vehicle than when there is no towed vehicle attached. A control unit is configured to, when an object is detected by a detection device in any of the warning zones set by the zone setting unit, trigger a collision-inhibiting operation for inhibiting a collision with the object to be performed.

Abstract: An object recognition device is applied to a vehicle having a range sensor that transmits a probe wave and receives the reflected wave of the probe wave. The object recognition device is configured to recognize an object behind the own vehicle based on detection information of the range sensor. The object recognition device includes a tow determining unit configured to determine whether a towed vehicle is coupled to a rear of the own vehicle, and a changing unit configured to, in response to determining that the towed vehicle is coupled to the rear of the own vehicle, change how the range sensor detects an object to suppress reception of the reflected wave caused by presence of the towed vehicle.

Abstract: In a surroundings monitoring apparatus, a third determiner determines, based on a positional relationship between the object determined by a first determiner and the towed vehicle determined by a second determiner, whether the rearward side object is a ghost. An establishing unit establishes an object searching area located at least in front of or on the right or left side of an own vehicle in accordance with: (i) a position of a radio-wave transceiver; (ii) at least one of a position of each of left and right edges of the front end of the towed vehicle and a position of each of left and right edges of the rear end of the towed vehicle; and (iii) an angle of the towed vehicle tilted to a traveling direction of the own vehicle. The first determiner determines whether an object is located in the established searching area.

Abstract: A dielectric substrate includes a plurality of pattern layers. A ground plate to be used as a ground plane is formed in a first pattern layer of the dielectric substrate. A functional unit includes a plurality of conductive patches that are parasitic patterns formed in a second pattern layer different from the first pattern layer. The conductive patches are periodically arranged, and sides of the conductive patches along at least one direction are set at a length to cause resonance of a radio wave that propagates through a surface of the dielectric substrate.
