Abstract: There is provided silicone based materials with enhanced tackiness upon cure. These may be used for cured self-adhering silicone-based products such as pressure sensitive adhesives, self-adhering materials and/or self-sealing materials, made from condensation curable silicone-based compositions, the compositions therefor and to applications for which said self-adhesive products may be used. In one particular application the cured silicone based material may be utilised as a self-sealing layer in an inflatable article such as a pneumatic tire.

Abstract: Two part silicone lamination adhesive compositions which cure via a condensation cure chemistry using titanium and/or zirconium based catalysts at room temperature are disclosed. The compositions comprise: (i) at least one condensation curable silyl terminated polymer having at least one hydrolysable and/or hydroxyl functional group(s) per molecule; (ii) a cross-linker; and (iii) a condensation catalyst selected from the group of titanates and zirconates. Polymer (i) is not stored in the same part as cross-linker (ii) and catalyst (iii). Catalyst (iii) is present in a molar amount which is at least 50% of the moisture present cumulatively in the parts of the composition. The molar ratio of silicon bonded hydroxyl groups in polymer (i) to hydrolysable groups in cross-linker (ii) is above 0.15. The molar ratio of the silicon bonded hydroxyl groups in polymer (i) to M-OR functions is greater than 10, where M is titanium or zirconium.

Abstract: Improvements in or relating to transparent units (such as glazing units, which may also be referred to as insulating glass units) and their methods of manufacture are disclosed. Each transparent unit comprises first and second panes of transparent material each having an outwardly facing side and an inwardly facing side. Each inwardly facing side is at least partially coated with a reactive interlayer made by the application of a reactive interlayer coating composition. The inwardly facing side of the first and second panes of transparent material are spaced apart partially or totally by a transparent spacer made of a pre-cured condensation curable material or a substantially pre-cured condensation curable material adhered to the inwardly facing side of the first and second panes of transparent material by way of the reactive interlayers. In various embodiments, the pre-cured condensation curable material is a silicone based material.

Abstract: A room temperature curable composition is disclosed. The composition can be used as an encapsulation/potting material. The composition comprises: (i) at least one condensation curable silyl terminated polymer having at least one silicon bonded hydroxyl functional group per molecule; (ii) a cross-linker having at least two hydrolysable groups and selected from certain silanes and/or silyl functional molecules; and (iii) a condensation catalyst selected from the group of titanates and/or zirconates. The molar ratio of the sum of moisture present in the composition and total silicon bonded hydroxyl groups:the catalyst (“the molar ratio”) is >7:1. When the molar ratio is from >7:1 to 10:1, the molar ratio of total silicon bonded hydroxyl groups:total hydrolysable groups is between 0.1:1 to 0.3:1. When the molar ratio is >10:1, the molar ratio of total silicon bonded hydroxyl groups:total hydrolysable groups is between 0.1:1 to 0.5:1.
