    Abstract: When (I) a tyre 1 is in contact with a flat surface (S) with a camber angle θ of 40 degrees, (II) a load (F) applied to the tyre is increased from zero, and (III) a curve (T) is obtained by plotting, in a XY coordinate, a displacement (Δx) in a tyre axial direction and a displacement (Δy) in a tyre radial direction of a position (A) of one of tyre tread edges (Te) closer to the flat surface (S), the displacements being from a reference position (A0) when the load (F) is zero, inclination of the curve (T) increases as the load (F) increases at least in a range where the load (F) is not more than 78% of a maximum load capacity load of the tyre.

    Abstract: To provide a tire which allows the motor vehicle to continue operation even when both a tire body thereof and a tube mounted therein are damaged. A tire houses therein a tube which is compartmented into an inner circumferential air chamber filled with air and an outer circumferential sealant chamber filled with a sealant. The tire has lateral beads held and hermetically sealed against lateral steps of a rim. Even when the tube is pierced, the sealant repairs the pierced hole, preventing air from leaking out. Even if air leaks from the tube into the tire body, because the pierced hole in the tire body is repaired by the sealant and the beads, of the tire body are sealed against the rim, the air is prevented from leaking out of the tire body.

An air valve 6 is mounted to the tube blank 2' to communicate with the air chamber 3 and then, opposite ends of the tube blank is bonded by pressure bonding and vulcanized. A sealant charging bore 4.sub.1 is formed in the tube blank 2' to communicate with the sealant chamber 7. Thereafter, air is supplied to the air chamber 3 through the air valve 6 to urge the partition wall 5, thereby expelling the air from the sealant chamber 7. In this state, a sealant is supplied into the sealant chamber 7 through the sealant charging bore 4.sub.1. The sealant charging bore 4.sub.1 is closed by affixing a raw rubber sheet 19 and vulcanizing it.

    Abstract: A pneumatic insert for a pneumatic tire comprises a generally toroidal shaped hollow member having a pair of annular insert beads with sidewalls extending therefrom joined to an insert crown portion. An annular flap portion is joined to the outer surface of each insert sidewall at the bead area and extends beyond each bead a predetermined amount.The pneumatic insert is disposed in a standard tire and mounted on standard rim. The insert flaps are tucked between the respective insert beads and the bead support surface of the rim to provide a leak-tight seal. When the insert is inflated the insert beads push the respective tire beads against the rim flange. In one embodiment the tire is inflated through an air passage member disposed between the tire and insert beads. In another embodiment the tire is inflated directly through the tire sidewall with a hypodermic needle. The insert inflation chamber and the tire inflation chamber do not communicate and can be inflated to different pressure levels.Other embodiments of the pneumatic insert include fabric reinforcements and/or protective caps.
