Abstract: The present invention relates to an alkyd resin composition comprising a. 1-60 wt % of an imide compound according to anyone of formulas Ia, Ib, Ic, Id or Ie wherein R1 is H or a C1-C20 optionally substituted hydrocarbon group; R2 and R5 are independently H, or a C1-C20 hydrocarbon group; R3 and R4 are independently H, or a C1-C20 hydrocarbon group; R6 is H or a methyl group; R7 and R8 are independently H, methyl or ethyl; b. 10-40 wt % of an alcohol having a number average hydroxy functionality ≧2.0; c. 30-70 wt % of fatty acids or vegetable oils; d. 0-50 wt % of a mono and/or polyfunctional compound capable of esterification, which compound is different from the compounds used in a, b and c; wherein the wt % is determined relative to the total of weight of compounds a, b, c and d.

Abstract: The present invention pertains to a new shoe comprising a sole of a thermoplastic material adhered to an upper shoe with a hot melt adhesive that is applied between the sole and the upper shoe, wherein the hot melt adhesive is fused with the thermoplastic material. Advantageously, the fusion is brought about by heating the hot melt adhesive to a temperature THM such that it softens, heating the second body such that the thermoplastic material that has a melting temperature TM obtains a temperature TSUB below TM while making sure that (THM+TSUB)/2 is equal to or higher than (TM−10° C.).

Abstract: The invention pertains to a method of monitoring the quality of a mattress during its lifetime, wherein the mattress is an assembly of multiple separate parts, wherein the parts are mechanically interconnected, the method comprising during its lifetime, assessing at least one property of the mattress, determining whether or not the property meets a predetermined specification, and when the property does not meet the predetermined specification, identifying a part of the said multiple separate parts that corresponds to the property, removing the identified part from the assembly and optionally replacing the removed part with a replacement part, wherein the mattress that is monitored is manufactured by forming the mechanical interconnection with an adhesive, which adhesive has a first order phase-transition temperature between 80° C. and 180° C., at which temperature the adhesive undergoes a solid-liquid transition, and wherein before the said removing of the identified part, the adhesive with which this part is interconnected with other parts in the assembly is heated to a temperature above its phase-transition temperature, whereafter the identified part is grasped and pulled out of the assembly. The invention also pertains to a method of manufacturing a mattress suitable for use in this monitoring method.

Abstract: The present invention pertains to a method for producing and recycling an object consisting of a panel durably provided with a surface covering, comprising bringing the panel and the surface covering in a spatially aligned relationship, providing a layer of hot melt adhesive between the panel and the surface covering, heating the hot melt adhesive to a temperature above its melting temperature, pressing the surface covering against the panel with the molten hot melt adhesive in between the panel and surface covering, cooling down the hot melt adhesive to a temperature below its melting temperature to form the object, and after an end-of-life of the object, heating the hot melt adhesive to a temperature above its melting temperature, and separating the panel from the surface covering. The invention also pertains to a method of producing such an object and a panel for use in this method.
