    Abstract: The present invention relates to a chain link comprising a strip comprising warp yarns and weft yarns, with the warp yarns containing warp yarn A and warp yarn B, with the minimum creep rate of warp yarn B being higher than the minimum creep rate of warp yarn A, wherein the strip comprises a longitudinal core section and at least two longitudinal edge sections, and wherein the concentration of warp yarn A in the core section is higher than the concentration of yarn A in the edge sections of the strip and the concentration of warp yarn B in the edge sections is higher than the concentration of warp yarn B in the core section of the strip. The invention also relates to a chain comprising said chain link and to use of said chain in different applications.

    Abstract: The invention relates to an offshore drilling or production vessel comprising a platform and a mooring system attached thereto, said mooring system comprising: i.) a support frame with a winch-drum mounted thereon; ii.) a mooring line for mooring said platform to the ocean floor, said mooring line comprising a first portion and a second portion; wherein said first portion is hauled on and paid off by said winch-drum; wherein said second portion is anchored to the ocean floor; characterized in that the mooring line is a single length mooring line comprising high strength polyolefin fibers; wherein the first portion of the mooring line has a first mass (M1) of polyolefin fibers per unit length and the second portion of the mooring line has a second mass (M2) of polyolefin fibers per unit length; wherein the ratio M1/M2 is greater than 1 and wherein said first portion extends continuously into said second portion through a tapered portion of the mooring line.

    Abstract: The present invention concerns a rope health monitoring system and a rope for such rope health monitoring system whereby the rope comprises objects which are remotely detectable, readable and programmable identification (ID) tags and whereby the rope monitoring system comprises said rope, at least one ID tag reader device mounted along said predetermined path of the rope, to detect at least the identity and optionally the historic health status and/or at least one physical rope parameters of the individual rope section provided with and identified by the at least one ID tag, at least one ID tag writing device, to write a new health status of the individual rope section to the at least one ID tag, at least one means to measure at least one rope operation parameter, a computing unit provided with data, whereby the computing unit is equipped with an algorithm capable to compute the relative longitudinal positioning of individual sections of the rope and the additional damage or damages suffered by individual sections of the rope, compute and record the new health status of the individual sections of the rope, store the new health status of the individual section of the rope in the corresponding programmable ID tag of the rope.

    Abstract: A chain is provided which includes a plurality of interconnected chain-links. At least one chain-link of the chain has a braided core which includes a first primary strand having polymeric elongated elements having a tenacity of at least 1.0 N/tex. The braided core is braided from at least 2 consecutive turns of the primary strand. Also disclosed is a braided endless shaped element suitable as chain-link for the chain as well as a chain which has a tenacity (Ten) in N/Tex and a combined titer of the 2 legs of the chain-link having polymeric elongated elements (T) in MTex satisfying the relationship of Ten≥0.50*T−0.05.
