The driving method includes providing a cholesteric liquid crystal display, wherein the capacitance detector corresponds to a driving module; outputting a capacitance sensing voltage waveform from the driving module to the cholesteric liquid crystal display panel such that a capacitance value of the cholesteric liquid crystal layer is acquired and stored in the memory; and when the capacitance value falls in a capacitance range of a second displaying state, the capacitance detector outputs a second sensing result, and when the capacitance value falls in a capacitance range of a first displaying state, the capacitance detector outputs a first sensing result.

A cholesteric liquid crystal display includes a first substrate, a second substrate and a cholesteric liquid crystal layer interposed therebetween, wherein the cholesteric liquid crystal includes at least a first displaying state and a second displaying state. A capacitance detector measures the displaying state of the cholesteric liquid crystal layer and stores the measured display state as a first output signal or second output signal in a memory device.

    摘要: The invention relates to optically compensated bend (OCB) mode liquid crystal display devices and fabrication methods thereof. The OCB mode liquid crystal display includes a first substrate, a second substrate and a liquid crystal layer interposed therebetween. A first pixel electrode is disposed on the first substrate. A second pixel electrode is disposed overlying the first pixel electrode with a dielectric layer interposed therebetween such that a discontinuous fringe field is formed at the edge of the second pixel electrode. A first alignment layer is disposed on the first substrate covering the first and second pixel electrode. A common electrode is disposed on the second substrate, and a second alignment layer is disposed on the second substrate covering the common electrode.

    摘要: A LCD device and a manufacturing method thereof are disclosed. The LCD is characteristic of the electrode layer having no alignment layer disposed thereon. On this structure, the electrode layer of the positive and negative electrodes are adjacent to the liquid crystal molecules in the liquid crystal layer, and the electric field produced therebetween and also the structure for isolating the alignment layer in this region can avoid the disclination of the liquid crystal molecules caused by the transverse electric field produced between the electrodes so as to improve the optical efficiency of the LCD device. The manufacturing steps thereof includes providing a first substrate and a second substrate, forming a second alignment layer and a patterned second electrode layer on the second substrate simultaneously or sequentially, injecting liquid crystal to form a liquid crystal layer, and fabricating to form a liquid crystal display cell.

    摘要: The present invention discloses a method for manufacturing liquid crystal display (LCD) device by utilizing photopolymer. A first photopolymer layer is coated on the support substrate and the substrate having a buffer layer is treated by photopolymerization. A substrate is treated by processes for forming an electrode layer, an alignment layer and projections as required by general LCD manufacturing. A second photopolymer layer is coated on the substrate having a plurality electrode patterns, an alignment layer and projections. Mask exposure is applied to the substrate and the photopolymer forms a polymer wall. Alternatively molding can be applied to the substrate along with linear ultra violet exposure. The photopolymer layer is hardened by such process and forms a polymer wall with alignment. The cavities in the polymer wall are filled with mixture of liquid crystal and small amount of photopolymer. The support substrate and the substrate are aligned and treated by mask exposure for coupling the support substrate to the substrate via photopolymerization. The support substrate is separated from the substrate and accordingly a single substrate LCD device is generated. The same method can be applied to manufacturing process for a LCD device without a substrate. The method increases yield rate also provides a different method for manufacturing a LCD device.
