摘要: A method and apparatus for pumping an intake charge into an engine is disclosed herein. The fuel-powered engine utilizes a barrier between an intake manifold and a crankcase of the engine to substantially protect the intake charge from contamination by engine crankcase oil, while using the natural pumping action of a reciprocating engine piston to pump the intake charge into the combustion chamber.

摘要: A method is provided for identifying, correcting, modifying and reporting imperfections and features in pixel images that prevent or hinder proper OCR (Optical Character Recognition) and other document imaging processes. One embodiment of this invention provides that run length compressed images can be analyzed and corrected directly for improved performance. Major steps included in this invention for the enhancement of images for OCR and document imaging are: The detection, correction and reporting of skew from text or graphical lines. The detection, correction, and reporting of varying image registration. The detection, conversion and reporting of inverse type. The detection, removal and reporting of dot shading and lines with protection of characters.

摘要: In a run-length coded document image process a horizontal line in textual matter is eliminated by establishing a work zone around the horizontal line and a buffer zone of predetermined width around the work zone. All black-run-length artifacts that extend outside of the buffer zone are protected, this includes protecting information in the work zone when there is a matching artifact in the opposing buffer zone (Character Reconstruction). All black items that are within the work zone and the buffer zone, and which are not protected are eliminated.

One embodiment of this invention provides that run length compressed images can be analyzed and corrected directly for improved performance. Major steps included in this invention for the enhancement of images for OCR and document imaging are: The detection of undesired printed matter and the deletion of undesired printed matter. Detection of undesired printed matter includes successive generation of entries into an array listing of undesired printed matter to be deleted. Deletion of undesired printed matter follows in a separate step for all types of undesired printed matter.

摘要: A system, method, and apparatus for creating core samples, including a core bit; and a high-energy source disposed at a perimeter of the cutting head. That system, method, and apparatus allows removing much less material using much less energy than the current state of the art. A reason for this is that prior attempts tried to accomplish this via drilling just from the surface with a very large device or to send down hole a very large device. This invention makes it feasible to send high energy down hole is a relatively tiny device such as an optical fiber with a laser beam to cut the peripheral part of the hole to remove an intact center core or to bore a very small hole without a center core. With this invention it is feasible to drill a very small hole such as 0.25 inches diameter hundreds of feet through rock, or a 4 inch hole with less than 0.5 inch outer part of the hole being destroyed leaving a core in the center than can be removed. This invention has many more capabilities beyond these.

摘要: An apparatus, method, and system for recovering oil from a submerged oil source, wherein the system includes a submerged conduit having at least two openings, with a first opening capable of being located in proximity of a leak in order to capture leaking oil, and with a second opening capable of communicating captured leaking oil to another location. A natural gas separator, coupled to the submerged conduit separates the boiling vapor phase natural gas from the captured oil thereby outputting oil with water contaminant. An oil/water separator coupled to the natural gas separator then separates out the contaminant water, resulting in a processed recovered oil product for storage and subsequent refinement. The flow to capture the leak is induced by generating a lower pressure at nozzle in the conduit via power jet, air lift, pumping of fluid out of conduit close to sea level, or other methods. Flow within conduit can become self-propelled if natural gas is present and creates an “air lift” effect as the natural gas expands at lower pressures closer towards sea level.
