    摘要: With reference to FIG. 2, the invention relates to an opposed stepped piston two-stroke engine comprising at least a first and a second cylinder, wherein the air piston is a stepped piston providing a first air transfer piston that expands and compresses a first air transfer volume to deliver air from the first air transfer volume to an air transfer system, and the exhaust piston is a stepped piston providing a second air transfer piston that expands and compresses a second air transfer volume to deliver air from the second air transfer volume to the air transfer system, each of the first and second air transfer volumes having an air inlet for receiving air; and wherein the air transfer system provides fluid connection between the respective first air transfer volume of each cylinder and the air port of another respective cylinder, via respective first air transfer conduits, and fluid connection between the respective second air transfer volume of each cylinder and the air port of the other respective cylinder, via respective second air transfer conduits, wherein the drive system is configured, for each cylinder, to have a predetermined phase angle such that one of the exhaust piston and air piston is driven before the other piston, causing delivery of air from its respective air transfer volume to the air transfer system before delivery of air occurs from the other of the air transfer volumes.

    摘要: An oscillating lever arm engine includes rigidly connected opposing pistons moved by a single lever connected to a rotating crankshaft. When applied to a two-cycle internal combustion engine, one piston may function as a pump piston and the second piston as a working piston which delivers power to the crankshaft through a connecting rod. When the pump piston is chosen to be of larger diameter, the volumetric efficiency of drawing in and providing the intake charge to the working piston may be increased. Furthermore, when poppet-type exhaust valves are used, valve timing may be selected so that the exhaust valves close before the cylinder wall transfer ports to achieve a supercharging effect.

The sub-intake chamber is connected to an auxiliary carburetor set beforehand to form a mixture of fuel of high quality and air, and the crankchamber is connected to a main carburetor set beforehand to form a mixture of fuel of low quality and air. The working chamber is formed, in addition to a main scavenging port communicated with the crankchamber, with an auxiliary scavenging port which is communicated with the sub-intake chamber through a super-charging reservoir.

The two-cycle combustion engine includes a cylinder block having a two-staged cylinder bore with a reduced diameter bore portion and a large diameter bore portion, and a two-staged piston having a reduced diameter piston portion and a large diameter piston portion. An annular auxiliary chamber is defined between the two-staged cylinder bore and the reduced diameter piston portion. The two-cycle combustion engine also includes an air-fuel mixture passage for introducing the air-fuel mixture into a crank member, an air passage for introducing air into the auxiliary chamber, a scavenge passage for supplying the air-fuel mixture within the crank chamber into a combustion chamber, and injection passages and for injecting the air within the auxiliary chamber into the combustion chamber to counter a press-out issue.

    摘要: A reduced volume scavenging system for a two cycle engine embodying a duplex cylinder having an upper cylinder bore and a reduced-diameter lower cylinder bore. The lower bore communicates with a crankcase that houses a crankshaft, connecting rod(s) and engine lubricating oil. A fixed sleeve lines the upper cylinder bore and extends up into the cylinder head. A piston disposed for reciprocating motion within the fixed sleeve has an attached cylindrical, reciprocating sleeve that extends down into the lower cylinder bore and moves with the piston. The reciprocating sleeve has compression rings that seal the lower bore and the crankcase against blowyby gases that might contaminate the oil. The fixed sleeve has an intake opening in registry with an inlet port in the upper cylinder bore for admission of fresh air-fuel mixture. The fixed sleeve also has an exhaust opening diametrically opposite the intake opening and in registry with an exhaust port in the upper cylinder bore, as well as upper and lower pairs of scavenging openings in registry with transfer passageways recessed into the upper cylinder bore, such that each out stroke of the piston forces fresh air-fuel mixture through the passageways and into the combustion chamber to flush out burnt gases. This arrangement permits use of four cycle engine lubricating methods and apparatus in two cycle engines, without unduly adding to their weight and complexity, thereby reducing the emission of air pollutants and increasing engine life.
