摘要:
IPv6 traffic may be carried through an MPLS IPv4 network without the use of IPv6-over-IPv4 tunneling. This provides great savings in overhead, signaling, and state information storage and also allows for routing through the MPLS IPv4 network to adjust in response to changes in network state. In one embodiment, an edge node of an MPLS IPv4 network resolves a destination IPv6 network of a received IPv6 packet to an MPLS label switched path. The resolution exploits received inter-domain routing information. This information identifies the IPv4 address of an egress node that is usable as a gateway to the destination network. Within the inter-domain routing information, the IPv4 address may be encoded in IPv6 format.

摘要:
IPv6 traffic may be carried through an MPLS IPv4 network without the use of IPv6-over-IPv4 tunneling. An IPv6 packet is sent through the MPLS IPv4 network through a label switched path (LSP). The IPv6 packet is encapsulated with a label stack associated with the LSP. A second level label is used in the label stack (in addition to the label associated with the LSP). This second level label provides important benefits.

In an embodiment, an access network (AN) receives a message configured to prompt a conditional allocation of Quality of Service (QoS) resources to an access terminal (AT). The message can be received from the AT or from an application server (AS) that arbitrates a communication session for the AT. In another embodiment, if the AT determines that a QoS resource request has not yet been granted, the AT waits until the traffic channel (TCH) has been obtained for a communication session before resending the QoS resource request. In another embodiment, if the AT determines to initiate or join a second communication session before a confirmation that QoS resources for a first communication session are relinquished, the AT waits until the confirmation is received before a request for QoS resources for the second communication session is sent.

Systems and methods for hybrid call setup in a wireless communication system are disclosed. A page is sent on a first network informing a target device of a pending communication on a second network. The page also informs the target device a short data burst (SDB) will be sent on the first network. The short data burst (SDB) is sent on the first network containing setup information regarding the pending communication on the second network.

In an embodiment, an access terminal sends a request for a level of Quality of Service (QoS) resources to an access network, the QoS resource request associated with a call attempt by the access terminal. The access terminal proceeds with call set-up for the call attempt irrespective of whether the access network grants the QoS resource request. Alternatively, the access terminal waits for an extended period of time before the call attempt is permitted to fail. In a further example, in the event of call failure, the access terminal can refrain from informing a user thereof of the call failure. In another embodiment, the access network can respond to the QoS resource request with an allocation of a lower level QoS resources than requested if the requested QoS resources are not available. The access terminal can likewise be permitted to participate in the call with the lower level QoS resources.

Methods and apparatus for efficient data distribution to a group of users. In an aspect, a method is provided for distributing information. The method includes detecting one or more requests for the information, determining whether the information is to be broadcast, and transmitting the information in a broadcast transmission based on the determination. In another aspect, an apparatus is provided for distributing information. The apparatus includes a detector configured to detect one or more requests for the information, a determination module configured to determine whether the information is to be broadcast, and a transmitter configured to transmit the information in a broadcast transmission based on the determination.

A server based method for optimizing call setup latency including updating client location information using at least one application server; identifying and updating parameters including location update information uniquely identifying a sector from which the at least one client is receiving communication service; determining at least one geographically dense call group; choosing at least one designated responder to respond to the at least one call group; selecting a plurality of designated responders as targets for m largest clusters; computing hash outputs of the targets; and performing a logical OR operation on lower order n bits of the hash outputs corresponding to the targets.

In one embodiment, a device of a particular non-backbone routing domain in a computer network determines whether each of one or more routes is reachable within the particular non-backbone domain. The device may then generate a filtered set of label mappings having only those of the one or more routes reachable within the particular non-backbone domain. Accordingly, the device may advertise label mappings only of the filtered set to one or more neighboring devices.

A method is provided for generating a backup route. Here, a route and a route distinguisher type associated with the route are received and a backup route is generated based on attributes of the route. A particular backup route distinguisher type that is associated with the route distinguisher type is assigned to the backup route. The backup route with the backup route distinguisher type are then advertised. Another method is provided that identifies the backup route. When the route and its route distinguisher type are received from the advertisement, an identification is made as to whether the route distinguisher type is assigned to a backup route. The route may then be designated as a backup route based on the identification.
