    摘要: The invention describes a method implemented on a mobile phone that will disable a cellular phone to prevent an incoming and outgoing or re-route an incoming cellular phone call/text/video/messages and the like if the cellular phone is known to be moving at a predetermined speed corresponding to an unsafe operation of a vehicle. The system and method will determine if the cellular phone is travelling at the predetermined speed and if so will alert the user, then perform any one or all of, a set of predetermined actions such as shutdown the phone, re-route all call to voice messages, store all text messages, shutdown the display, prevent outbound calling/texting, and the like. The invention prevents an individual from using their cellular phone while operating a moving vehicle at or above a predetermined speed.

    摘要: Systems and methods are disclosed for a full duplex wideband communications system for a local (e.g. in-home) coaxial network. The system employs a Frequency-division duplex (FDD) scheme that allows identical wideband modems to communicate with each other. To achieve this, the wideband modems contain a duplexer and a switch that allows reversing the connection of the wideband transmitter and receiver to the duplexer. Each wideband modem includes a control modem that is used to control access to the wideband channels. A wideband transmitter, which may be included in a modem associated with a server set-top terminal (STT), transmits a video presentation to a wideband receiver, which may be included in a modem associated with a client STT.

    摘要: A battery pack (62) comprises cells (74), and is charged by a charger (64) providing a current level. The charger (64) is a typical nickel-cadmium battery charger providing a first charge current level in excess of an optimum charge current level. The battery pack (62) further comprises a thermal sensing element (76) and an overcurrent charge protection circuit having an overcurrent switch (78), current sense circuit (80), comparator circuit (82), and temperature signal switch (84). If the current level through the cells (74) exceeds the optimum charge current level, the current sense circuit (80) provides a signal to comparator circuit (82) which actuates the temperature signal switch (84), simulating a hot battery pack. The charger (64) then switches to a second charge current level which does not exceed the optimum charge current level. If the charger (64) does not change current levels, a switch delay (86), after a brief period, accumulates enough voltage to actuate a driver switch (88) which opens the overcurrent switch (78), disconnecting the cells (74) from the charger (64).

    摘要: The present invention discloses a portable computing device (200) including a processor (202), non-volatile memory (206), and a volatile memory (208). An execute in place (XIP) kernel (210) stored in the non-volatile memory is executed immediately upon powering up the device. As the XIP kernel is executed, the processor maintain state and context information (212) in the volatile memory. The XIP kernel includes user interface and application segments, allow the user to perform some functions immediately upon powering up the device. While executing the XIP kernel and full code instantiation (214) is loaded into the volatile memory. The full code instantiation includes identical code as is in the XIP kernel, in addition to other code. Once loaded, execution is switched (412) from the XIP kernel to the full code instantiation, providing full functionality of the device.
