摘要: A motion picture distribution system, the system including a central computer, an exhibitor computer, a communication channel, and a back channel. The central computer is located at a central site and configured to distribute a digital version of the motion picture. The exhibitor computer is located at an exhibitor location that is remote from the central site. The exhibitor computer is configured both to receive the digital version of the motion picture from the central computer, and to display the motion picture. The communication channel is configured to facilitate the electronic transfer of the digital version of the motion picture from the central computer to the exhibitor computer. The back channel is coupled between the central computer and the exhibitor computer, and configured to allow for the transfer of information between the exhibitor computer and the central computer.

摘要: A digital media distribution device that includes an encoder, a decoder coupled to the encoder, and a transcoder coupled to the decoder. The encoder is configured to encode input data that is received by the digital media distribution device into a first data format. The decoder is configured to decode output data to be output by the digital media distribution device. The transcoder is configured to convert the encoded input data from the first data format into a second data format. The digital media distribution device is configured to be coupled to a computer network.

摘要: A system and method that includes the use of a bank checking account that can be connected to insurance coverage. In particular, a banking consumer can purchase insurance coverage for unexpected events that may affect the historical deposits and withdrawals relating to the checking accounts. Additionally, insurance coverage other than that of the checking account itself can be included, such as life insurance, so long as the account remains active. Accordingly, the present invention can integrate the negative insurance sell into a positive banking experience.

摘要: There is provided a method for adaptive data transfer over packet networks. The method comprises selecting a first communication path for transferring the data to the second computer, starting to transfer the data over the first communication path to the second computer, monitoring transfer characteristics of the first communication path related to the data transfer, storing the transfer characteristics associated with the first communication path in a database, comparing the transfer characteristics against one or more previously stored transfer characteristics related to one or more prior data transfers, and determining whether to alter a transfer algorithm being utilized for transferring the data to the second computer based on the comparing.
