摘要: A method of reconfiguring a network having a transport plane for carrying subscriber traffic flows within end-to-end connections, a control plane for managing at least a portion of resources of the transport plane allocated to each connection, and a management plane for implementing management functions in the control plane and any resources of the transport plane that are not managed by the control plane. The method comprises installing an updated version of a control plane name space for a target node of the network. For each connection traversing the target node: a control plane to management plane migration is performed for removing connection state in the control plane associated with the connection, so as to transfer ownership of the connection from the control plane to the management plane; followed by a management plane to control plane migration for installing new connection state in the control plane associated with the connection, so as to transfer ownership of the connection from the management plant to the control plane, the new connection state being defined using the updated version of the control plane name space.

摘要: Multiple RSVP messages are used to separately signal components of co-routed VCAT to enable the separate components to be implemented on different physical fibers of a link bundle. To enable the PATH messages to be handled as a group, the multiple PATH messages are grouped together and sent out in a RSVP bundle message. When a RSVP bundle message containing multiple PATH messages is received at a network element, such as an ENNI, where the route for the PATH messages needs to be expanded, the route is expanded collectively rather than individually. Specifically, the route will first be expanded and this expanded route will be inserted into each individual PATH message. The modified PATH messages with the expanded route will then be passed through the RSVP finite state machine one at a time to enable resources to be reserved for the connections of the VCAT. Thus, a single LSP may be created for each channel, and the channels may be co-routed even where route expansion is required.

摘要: Congestion in the control plane of a network may be handled by an individual node. The individual node may, upon determining that congestion has been detected on a link to another node, commence implementing a compression scheme on control packets outgoing on the link. The individual node may also transmit a notification of congestion on the link to further nodes farther away from a controller. The further nodes, responsive to receiving such notifications, may commence implementing a compression scheme on control packets outgoing on a control channel that includes the link. The various nodes may also transmit notifications of congestion to a controller. The controller may, upon determining that a count of cases of congestion in the network exceeds a threshold, transmit control packets to the nodes, where the control packet contains instructions to the nodes to implement compression on outgoing control packets.

摘要: Provided is an apparatus and method for adjusting a bandwidth allocation for a traffic flow associated with a user as a function of a sensed characteristic of the user. A communication device has a sensor data receiver for receiving sensor data pertaining to a sensed characteristic of a user, and circuitry implementing an IRSCU (information representative of the sensed characteristic of the user) messenger configured for sending, to a network entity used for adjusting a bandwidth allocation for a traffic flow associated with the user, a message containing IRSCU. A network management entity, which receives the IRSCU, has circuitry implementing a bandwidth adjustor, which is configured for adjusting, based on the IRSCU, a bandwidth allocation for a traffic flow associated with the user. Accordingly, the bandwidth allocation for the traffic flow associated with the user is adjusted as a function of the sensed characteristic of the user.

摘要: An aspect of the present invention provides a method of establishing call controller communication in a multi-layer transport network where a plurality of signaling communications networks may exist within each layer. An interlayer call controller association is enhanced to provide associations of multiple client call controllers to a single server layer call controller. A method of collecting sets of associations related to a single server layer call is provided so that a sequence of client call controllers may be constituted. The plurality of signaling communications networks is then used to pass control information between call controllers in that sequence.

摘要: A load balancer is provided that can direct Internet Protocol Security (IPsec) traffic received from a single IPsec tunnel initiator to one of a plurality of endpoints provided Virtual Private Network (VPN) gateways in a network. The load balancer uses IP (Internet Protocol) addresses and SPIs (Security Parameter Identifier) to identify an endpoint responsible for processing particular packets for the VPN. Messages received at the load balancer from the endpoints are utilized to map endpoints responsible for processing packets having a particular IP address and SPI for forwarding IPsec traffic to the correct endpoint.
