    摘要: The present invention relates to naturally-occurring growth hormone mutations; to a method for detecting them and their use in screening patients for growth hormone irregularities or for producing variant proteins suitable for treating such irregularities. In one aspect there is disclosed variants of GH1, selected from the group consisting of: (a) (i) +480 C→T; (ii) +446 C→T; (iii) +1491 C→G; (iv) −60 G→A; (v) −40 to −39 GG→CT; (vi) −360 A→G; and (vii) +748 A→G (where figures relate to GH1 nucleotide position number, counting from TSS); (b) a sequence substantially homologous to or that hybridises to sequence (a) under stringent conditions; (c) a sequence substantially homologous to or that hybridises to the sequences (a) or (b) but for degeneracy of the genetic code; and (d) an oligonucleotide specific for any of the sequences (a), (b) or (c) above.

    摘要: The present invention relates to naturally-occuring growth hormone mutations; to a method for detecting them and their use in screening patients for growth hormone irregularities or for producing variant proteins suitable for treating such irregularities. In one aspect there is disclosed a detection method for detecting a variation in GH1 effective to act as an indicator of GH dysfunction in an individual, which detection method comprises the steps of: (a) obtaining a test sample comprising a nucleotide sequence of the human GH1 gene from the individual; and (b) comparing the sequence obtained from the test sample with the standard sequence known to be that of the human GH1 gene, wherein a difference between the test sample sequence and the standard sequence indicates the presence of a variation (hereinafter “variant of GH1”) effective to act as an indicator of GH1 dysfunction characterised in that the test sample is obtained from an individual, either or both: exhibiting intra-uterine growth retardation (IUGR), defined as sufficient foetal height velocity diagnosed by standard methods known in the art; and/or small for gestational age (SGA), defined as insufficient (small) foetal body size (weight and/or length) for gestional age diagnosed by standard methods known in the art.

    摘要: A vacuum sealing apparatus has an inlet portion and an intermediate portion. The inlet portion is adapted to couple to, or insert into, a container to be vacuum sealed. The intermediate portion connects to a vacuum source, such as an in-house vacuum system. When the vacuum source is active, air is drawn in through the inlet portion. The vacuum sealing apparatus may also have a contamination filter disposed therein that substantially impedes contaminants from entering the vacuum source. In another configuration, the vacuum sealing apparatus is self-contained and includes a dedicated vacuum source.

    摘要: Dilute chemical carrying systems include multiple embodiments of pressurizable and gravity feed reservoirs, and are provided for support and carriage of a segregated accommodation space, in some cases separately provided and in others integrally provided, for metered introduction of a concentrate into such reservoir. The structures both provide storage for concentrated chemical containers, and metered measurement while eliminating waste, make up time and minimizing contact between workers and the chemicals or nutrients in their concentrated state. Metering may be preferably provided by a pump assembly, and operational blocking of the pump assembly may be provided in separate or integrated structures. A concentrate container system enables users to recycle sealed containers to even further eliminate the necessity to directly handle concentrate.

    摘要: A shut-off valve for connecting between a water supply valve and a tank inlet port of a toilet tank includes a housing having an inlet port, an outlet port, a valve mechanism, a trip mechanism, and a trip circuit electrically connected with the trip mechanism. The valve mechanism includes a valve housing rotationally confining a first ceramic disk and a ceramic second disk, each disk having at least one aperture therethrough that, when mutually aligned, allow for fluid communication between the inlet and outlet ports. The trip mechanism includes a rotational spring that urges rotation of an axial shaft fixed coaxially with the second disk. A trip latch is adapted to prevent rotation of the axial shaft and second disk except when withdrawn from the axial shaft by a solenoid electrically connected to the trip circuit that is electrically connected with a toilet tank overflow sensor, a toilet bowl overflow sensor, or the like. Upon detection of a fault condition, the trip circuit trips the trip mechanism to prevent water from flowing into the toilet tank until the fault can be corrected, thereby conserving water and often preventing water damage.

    摘要: A multifunction container-piercing tool is provided. The tool includes a base and a piercing element having a pointed tip and a triangle base. The triangle base is attached to the front of the base. A hook is connected to the bottom of the base. The hook base extends from the bottom of the tool base and the catch faces toward the pointed tip. The distance between the catch and the base is about equal to the length of the piercing element. A handle extends from the back of the base, where the handle has at least one fork element. The fork element is disposed to leverage a mass of turf, such as a divot in a putting green. The hook pivots about a container bottom, and the piercing element provides an opening in a beverage can sidewall to enable rapid delivery of the contents when the pull-tab is lifted.
